Can I ask, is it better to drink Lactose free milk over normal cow's milk?

When we use milk, we have the unpasteurised raw milk - it apparently contains the required bacteria to deal with Lactose properly.

Definitely if you're lactose intolerant. You don't really need to drink milk at all, though.

Depends entirely on you.
no advantage, or disadvantage, unless you are intolerant.
I would assume, as you haven't said you are, go with whichever tastes better.

I drink skimmed milk in coffee.

idiots who think they know everything but they really know nothing
I am afraid I cannot give my normal milk up, I would have withdrawal problems, but like has been said on other threads everyone is different and needs to adapt to what suits them best, my diet is nothing like others use but it suits me and I have got my levels down in the last two months from HB at 7.3 to 5.4 so it must be working for me.

There isn't a lot of lactose in milk and if your tending to LCHF then you would benefit from the milk fat, you should even switch to single cream then.
Lactose makes up around 2–8% of milk. Is there any other food that has more?

It is if you're lactose intolerant.

What's the major difference between single and double cream?
You can look at nutritional labelling for this sort of information, but the main difference will be in the fat content and therefore also the calories - double's higher - a bit scarily so! :wideyed: Tesco and some other online grocery sites are quite good at providing this sort of information for us - use the detailed tabular data not the brief versions.

I either drink Alpro almond (unsweetened) milk or cream with my coffee and cocoa.

Taste wise there's no difference between the two IMHO, however the Lactofree milk has around half the carbs as normal milk.

I eat a combo of double cream, clotted cream, creme fraiche and soured cream - whichever is in the fridge - as my bedtime snack. Low carb, low protein, high fat and low lactose. The higher the fat content, the lower the lactose.

It's not just the lactose in milk that's a prob, it's the milk proteins, which are insulinogenic.

As a treat I have bought lactofree single cream and it is a thing of beauty in drinks and poured over a few berries and a little grated 85% chocolate over the top. De-ca-dent.

Thanks for that. I normally drink Skimmed Cow's Milk, but have occasionally bought Lactose Free Skimmed Milk. Looking to cut carbs so I think I will switch permanently to Lactose Free.

I don't think I could live without milk, I can't drink coffee or 'normal' tea without it!
Well, you don't really need coffee or tea either. Have you tried heavy cream instead?

Coffee, in my case, but I hate it with cream, it completely kills the taste.
Black is preferable, and fortunately it's available everywhere here, unlike tea.
