Hypos, rude people, ignorance and grey days.
Having run high for the past couple of weeks and suddenly coming down overnight reminded of me favourite saying connected to being a type 1 diabetic - 'going up the stairs and coming down the elevator'..

What's yours ? ;)

'Sugar drunk like a bad tempered wasp!' Unfortunately describes me all too often.
'And life on shifting sands'. Anyone with diabetes will understand that one

Yes I heard one recently saying 'injecting insulin is like injecting water' which is very relevant for me depending on the time of the month !! (I saw another doc last week who disagreed with me when I said I was insulin resistant before my period..mmm try walking in my shoes lol !!!)

I find it funny that me and my family seem to have evolved into using hypo as a verb.... "Are you hypoing right now?"

When having a heated exchange with my wife over things like why the DIY I said I'd do 4 years ago hasn't been done I get met with 'have you checked your sugars?'. Subtext being you must be mentally deranged to argue with She Who Knows Best...

Yep, the day incident I have a handle on. But the night hypo if it happens...
I got memories as a kid raiding the fridge & my poor dad looking silently disappointed in the morning when the milk had gone..
The milk man didn't show up rill after he'd left for work.. :arghh::banghead:

I'm actually I little more mindful of the milk regarding my wife's tea requirements pre work set off these days..! :D

There is actually an appropriate song from one of my favourite bands on this subject.. "Suffer unto the locust."

I love "doing a locust" - it is so completely apt! For me, it's followed the next morning by "sweetly paying for panic" because my blood sugar spike tells all.
"Are you sure this is Diet Coke?" Words I live by. Why can't someone invent a cup that reacts when sugar is in it so we can tell immediately? I hate having my life rely on some kid who has no idea how it affects me.

substitute the word "anything" for DIY and "all context concerning time" for 4 years ago and you pretty much have an insight into life in the himtoo household :D
