Just out of interest for lifters :) and other athletes on here....

Have not used creatine for many years but thought I might try it again (one of the few supplements that seems to actually work).............

So thought I would check if it was ok for Diabetics and it seemed as the answer was no or yes or maybe :banghead::) after a quick google.....

But then found these http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/741355 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20881878

and this...http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20976468

So going to try a cycle , no loading just 4 grams a day

Comments welcome....

hmm, seems not so useful for me as an endurance monkey, also seems to require quite a bit of carbs to go with it to fully metabolise it. Not particularly useful on a low carb and low GI diet.

List of supplements I take:
3g Creatine monohydrate
3g L-Glutamine
3g BCAA powder (leucine, isoleucine, valine)
2g fish oil capsules
500mg vitamin c
Daily basic multi-vitamin
Optimum gold standard Whey protein (half scoop before and after my workouts)

Does it all work? Debatable
Is it worth the money? Debatable
Do I plan to keep taking it either way? Yes

Contrary to how it may seem, I'm not a big fan of supplements. Just as their name suggests they "supplement" a diet that isn't perfect. However, I'm not aware of anyone who has the perfect diet, and I'm certainly no exception.

It costs me about $10usd/month to buy everything on the list above. To me, that's worth it based on the possibility that I might have a deficiency in one of those areas. I spend A LOT of time in the gym and the last thing I want is for that hard work to be wasted. $10/month is basically my "diet/workout insurance"

Pretty much the same list as me except I take a more comprehensive multivit at the moment (animalpak type thing) + vit D and B12.........but no BCAAs , but the list varies :) but always take the fish oil , multivits and protein powder...........

and for the exact same reasons, I am of the "best take it and not need it than not take it and need it" school of thought...:)

Like you I think they probably dont do much (some) but for a small outlay its worth it........

And thats after I watched a brilliant BBC program a few years back that debunked most of them........:)

I don't take any, try to just get a reasonably healthy balanced diet with macro and micro nutrients.

Tried glucosamine for a while for my knees, but found that yoga was much better at dealing with the underlying issues.

Hi. Seeing the word 'creatine' took me back. It certainly worked for me, but then I even responded to ventalin when I became asthmatic in my 20's. My plan is to get the weight down before Christmas and then get back on the weights and rebuild - I want to see where I can take it. In 1986 I was runner up west of England Intermediates (EFBB) 3 weeks later car crash - broken leg, game changer. But I used Creatine in the early 2000's and it is incredible. I swear - I added weight to the bar in every single work out - without fail. It's next year's challenge. Tim Belknap did it as a diabetic, so can I 9but I wont compete again - carb depletion and all that paranoia - no thanks not at my age. Keep in touch and let me know how it's going

Yep it was one of the few supps that I could tell the difference with (for whatever reason) , as you said weights went up every workout, but I did seem to have a side effect, nothing major just needed to pee a lot :) and as I drove for a living it was a pain.........

Using a lower dose (no loading) than I planed (3 gram per day) as read some stuff :) ...

1) A lower dose stops the water weight gain

and

2) The usual dose is too high for most.... http://www.doescreatineworkblog.com/creatine-dosage/
