Had a heart attack? What symptoms did you have?

Hi Colin! I was diagnosed in May 1979 with type 1 at the age of 15. When I was 35 I started getting pains in my left side like a kidney infection and was not able to walk to work any more as the pain got worse. I went to see my GP, who specialised in Diabetic Care (lol) he told me I was only...

    neuropathy ?

I can't digest food properly (exocrine insufficiency) and have been taking Creon 10,000 for 3 years now - I capsule for every 6g of fat I consume. It's a real pain not only counting carbs, but having to count grams of fat as well. We just have to 'keep on trucking', as they say! What is CBD?

    neuropathy ?

The balls of both feet were so painful and I was scared of the dreaded neuropathy, so went to GP. He referred me to the hospital for ultrasound scans on both feet. It was Morton's Neuroma - something to do with the nerves at the base of your toes. Some days I couldn't put my feet to the...

    Splitting Levemir dose

The diabetes consultant advised me at my last appointment to split my Levemir dose (10/10 units) rather than one shot of 20. I had been having lots of low BGs in the middle of the night and he wanted to prevent those. Now I rarely have a low BG at night. This worked for me, but I was having...

Creon 25000 thrice a day - still feeling my stomach to be empty!

I have been taking insulin since 1979 (Type 1) and after my son passed away my blood sugars went off the screen. One minute I was having a hypo, followed by a 20+ blood glucose. The Doctor referred me to a gastroenterologist and he did numerous tests and gastroscopy, etc. He put me on to...

I'm Type 1 (since May 1979), but in April 2014 when I had a camera down the throat again for stomach problems. I had another ulcer (that makes 5 now). My consultant took a stool test and loads of blood tests and confirmed that I have Pancreatic Exocrine Insufficiency (PEI which means I don't...

Dizzy and feeling sick all the time for 3 months

After my son passed away, I started being sick and feeling dizzy all the time. I went through loads of tests at the hospital and they found that I had exocrine insufficiency - my pancreas wasn't producing enzymes to digest food. I now have to count each gram of fat I eat and have to take a...

Can people explain how they feel during hi's and lo's?

Lows: The best description is "vacant". As if I had had too much to drink and my legs won't go in a straight line. I feel sick, but hungry. I feel like a puppet, like a Thunderbird puppet and I am not in control of the strings. I talk rubbish (according to my partner) and I know what I want...

New to Forum, but not to Type1!

I have just read the bit about Verapamil - I have been taking it daily since I had a 4xby-pass in 2005. Supposed to slow my heart down - still races. Anybody got any advice?
