    Metformin and alcohol

I guess the answer is alcohol should be consumed in moderation. However, I am on numerous medication for many ailments and I also take Metformin. If I read all the information sheets within the packets virtually every one of them suggests I should not drink alcohol with them and that is advice...

    Increased sugars post virus

I will be the first to admit that I am not a slave to my type 2 numbers. My last HBA1C was 56 last year and I will take that for a balanced life in my early seventies. 10 days ago I got a virus with temps up to 38.8 for a couple of days but kept testing negative for Covid. I have not been...

FFP3/KN99 masks that do not fog eyeglasses

I couldnt find any mask that would stop my glasses misting up so I purchased a reusable dry anti fog cloth that if you keep it sealed lasts for over 700 applications. Got it on Amazon 2 years ago for a few pounds and use it every day, it works and is still going strong.

Does EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) reduce numbers?

Just for clarity to everybody, you need a TENS machine that also delivers EMS. I have the EMS set to a number that makes my quad muscles constrict and contract for 10 secs on and 10 secs off, continually for 40 mins. It is interesting watching the quad muscle behave like this and I find it...

Does EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) reduce numbers?

Havent noticed a reduction in pain but am able to walk easier as I guess the quads are doing a bit of the carrying, well a bit more than they were anyway. Whilst I understand the release of glucose, due to exercise, I cannot understand the drastic i.e., between 3 and 4 reduction in morning...

Does EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) reduce numbers?

So amongst all my other health issues I have a dodgy knee and in my efforts to stave off a knee replacement I am trying to build up my quads to reduce pressure on my knees. I am using a professional TENS machine which also has an EMS function and it seems to have reduced my numbers. My type 2...

Shortage of test tubes for routine blood tests

I am due my annual HBA1C for type 2. There is much publicity that GP's are not offering routine blood tests due to shortage of test tubes but are continuing with more urgent blood tests. Before I ring the surgery, what is the view of the status of HBA1C tests?

    Diagnosed today - confused

You need to tell us more. Presumably you had blood tests and what was the reason for having them? What were the readings that you have been given. Is this sudden onset or has it been gradual?

    Complex Diet Requirement.....Help!

Thanks for those links, yes they did make interesting reading! I looked at sample menus for the carnivore diet and whilst I indulge in most items included as minor or major parts of my everyday consumption, there are many items included that list that are explicitly excluded for control of gout...

    Complex Diet Requirement.....Help!

Sorry, it was originally Metformin but was switched to Sukkarto SR a year ago. I just couldn't remember its name when I posted!!

    Complex Diet Requirement.....Help!

Metformin 2 x500, but I have stopped taking these over the last 8 weeks as I didnt know whether thet were feeding into my tummy problems. Please see previous reply for diet info. For the last few years I have only eaten for T2 on a LCHF diet and hoped that the statins would balance the fat...

    Complex Diet Requirement.....Help!

I guess the most important to me is T2 and heart.

    Complex Diet Requirement.....Help!

For me the contradictions can be summed up as follows. I try as much as possible to eat LCHF for type 2 , but the HF element could not normally be advocated for a healthy heart, but am also on statins! Diverticulosis suggests avoiding dairy and red meat which is part of my T2 diet. As regards...

    Complex Diet Requirement.....Help!

I am 70 and diagnosed type 2 six or 7 years ago. I was diagnosed with Hypertension perhaps 25 years ago and have been on medication for that ever since. Likewise I am unlucky enough to suffer with gout and am on medication to control my Uric Acid levels. A further problem is Diverticulosis...

How Long For Side Effects of Metformin

I do not follow the NHS regurgitated advice to eat normally and control my type 2 with Metformin. I would imagine that my average daily carb intake is way under 100, sometimes less than 50 or even lower. When my Metformin was doubled to 2 tabs a day, there was no discernable difference in my...

How Long For Side Effects of Metformin

I have been type 2 for 6 or 7 years. I was put on Metformin 1x 500 and appeared to tolerate that although I have suffered with relatively minor tummy probs for over 40 years. I was switched to Sukkarto SR a couple of years ago . In Feb of this year I was asked to take 2 x500 due to a rise in...

    Annual Check-up

I had my annual review during the current lockdown. Went in for bloods and a week later had my 10 min "telephone" review, the DN wanted me to go back in so she could tickle my feet but I declined.

    Annual Check-up

Lots of tests are on hold for better or for worse, but it does vary by area. Despite your reluctance a quick call to the surgery wouldn't go amiss. Are you self testing at home which would give you an indication?
