    Hair

When my dad was diagnosed t2 a couple of years ago, my mum totally changed to a better, healthier diet for my dad. It just makes sense to them, I guess.

    Hair

Hi, no my son doesn't low carb. He eats whatever he feels like. I do it because I wanted to lose a bit of weight and to me, it was a good choice of diet. I only found out about it from being on this forum so much since he was diagnosed last year at 15. :)

    Hair

I think perhaps I jumped straight into low carb, like 15g a day, too quickly. Only 5% of my intake was carbs. This is my husbands view as well. Also got the wrinkly fingertips to go with it. No matter how much water I drink. Maybe if I'd tapered down gradually my body might not have rebelled...

    Hair

Well I don't have diabetes (my son is type one) and I've been doing low carb since November and my hair is coming out loads. My thyroid has been checked and is fine, so I'm thinking it can only be my diet. I'm obviously missing something.

    NHS prescription charges penalty notice

Agreed.. I'm entitled to free prescriptions for life because I have an ostomy. I had a letter from my Ostomy supply company today saying they needed to see proof that I'm entitled to them. They apologised saying they know that I get them free because of my lifelong condition, but they still...

    Ibuprofen Recommendations ...

I made that mistake giving my t1 son ibuprofen for a headache a few months ago. He went from 6 to 16! I never even considered that it had sugar in it. I spoke to the chemist and he said the only thing available sugar free was infants ibuprofen liquid. He's a 6'1" strapping 16 year old.

    I had some toast

It is 4.0 this morning, so all is well and it was just an over reaction to carbs then maybe?

    I had some toast

Well, I just took another test at 2am, that's nearly 5 hours after the toast and it's now 8.9. At least it's coming down a bit.

    I had some toast

I thought so too. I'll do a check in the morning when I get up. Thanks Guys. :) My dad has type 2 as well. Thought it may just have been a shock to my system as I've been keeping to under 18g of carbs per day for the past couple of months.

    I had some toast

Hi everyone. I'm non diabetic but have been doing lchf for about two months. I'm the mum of a 16 year old t1 diabetic. Earlier I had some toast, the first I've had in 2 months and tested my blood with my son's spare meter after 2.5 hours and it was 11.8. Is that normal after being lchf for a...

Type 1 Changes in Taste Perception

Thanks @catherinecherub , I looked at that info before I initially came on here and read that it could be possible it was linked to diabetes, but it said type 2 mostly. He doesn't seem to have any of the other causes, that's why I'm puzzled. Thanks again. It's such a shame, he couldn't even...
