    Cost of dario test strips

I have the Dario. I like mine but for me it reads high, it's probably my fault but I'm curious to know how others get on.

    A Hello and Goodbye

What is your issue With couch control. Is it lack of experience of driving (bite points/ throttle controls etc.) Is it a physical issue with your control over your legs ? Most physical issues can be addressed they have autos, all electric (no gears), or even cars with hand controls. If you...

    So frustrating.....

That's some scary stuff if it happens. Even at 40 bmi I never considered myself big enough to be considered for gastric surgery. After 4 years (1 1/2 years off during that time for non weight related issues) I've got my bmi down to 30.3 and I would certainly not consider surgery. What are they...

On a similar note how low on carbs do people go to get an effect on BG? Since actively trying to improve my BG I've restricted my daily carb intake from 3-500g to 150g and I've been able to stabilise my BG from 10-12 to a more respectable 5-7 ( allowing for +-20% meter error). A1c from 59% to...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Mine has dropped from 59% to 39% in 3 months. I no longer eat bread/pasta or rice and I'm very strict on chocolate sweets and bakery. Don't know how long I can maintain this level of self control but at leases I've kept myself off diabetic medication for now. I've been given statin but...

    managing without medication

I know it's my choice. I've got two months supply so I'll give them two months but I want to carry on with my lifestyle changes. I was a bit disappointed with the cholesterol but I knew this was the hardest attribute to change.

GP surgery repeat prescriptions - behind the times!

The online system is only a request for a prescription. The doctor has to authorise the request so the health centre can implement any policies it sees fit to guard against over use.

GP surgery repeat prescriptions - behind the times!

To get repeats I've had to ask for my prescription to be made repeat then it was added to the online emis. I can request a repeat but still have to go in to pick it up and transfer it to the pharmacy. Try goining into your gp and asking why you don't see your repeats on emis?

Access to test strips - can you logically answer 'no' to these questions?

By definition a policy is an overgeneralisation. I just wish t2 treatment wasn't a postcode lottery.

Access to test strips - can you logically answer 'no' to these questions?

You understand my point sanguine the NHS are happy to treat with drugs as they believe people who have let their Bmi break the 30 barrier are unlikely to be disciplined enough to address their own health issues. Hence the pills over wasting time letting us try to loose weight. Maybe for low...

Access to test strips - can you logically answer 'no' to these questions?

You are one of the lucky ones who have a supportive health care team. In my case I'm trying to keep off meds but my medical team want me to start takings meds. At 45 having just been tested while taking Cicosporins I was diagnosed t2. Through my time on the Xpert course and reading websites...

Access to test strips - can you logically answer 'no' to these questions?

Jill I'm not sure that the medical profession believe that people can reduce their medication. Though they try to encourage self management do they really expect anyone to be successful ? The medical policy is to control t2s with metformin and statins not to dish out 12 week exercise classes...

Access to test strips - can you logically answer 'no' to these questions?

Another problem with testing is the accuracy ussues on domestic meters. With a +-20% tolerance too many readings are too inaccurate. For example If the expected pre-meal reading is 5.4 my meter could read anything between 4.3 & 6.5 would I be as happy with the higher reading even though the...

Access to test strips - can you logically answer 'no' to these questions?

I'm concerned about those who eat to their meters considering how poor their accuracy is. The acceptable accuracy range is +-15%. For people to eat to their readings the deltas need to be massive. A meter could read anywhere between 6.0 & 8.0 for an actual reading of 7.0. Being a newly...

    A Hello and Goodbye

I too had a bad experience with the Samaritans. In my case they were only interested if I was actually in the process of committing self an act rather than thinking of it. The SAMs have their funding and own agenda put them out of your mind and move on. You seem to want to improve you...

@onky Thanks for the info. Like I said I almost started NW 2 years ago (when I needed to loose weight to get my driving licence). I think I'll look into finding a local group. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

When diagnosed my fasting bloods were over 8 but then I was on Cicosporin which is known to raise blood glucose. My new testes ( this week ) should be better. As...

    managing without medication

I just turned 45 and as part of my checkup been diagnosed T2. Current BMI is 31.4 down from 33.4 in 4 weeks (6kgs). Mother and 2 out of 3 siblings are all type 2. I really want to fight this without drugs for as long as possible. I'm using my diagnosis as a motivator to force me to diet and...
