    Freestyle Libre reaction to sensor

Thanks for the feedback. That is good to hear. I was a bit hesitant to try again but I think I'll give it a go. I have a meeting with my specialist soon so will ask to get one. There was no doubt about how great the libre was at helping get go control so will be great if I can get back to...

    Freestyle Libre reaction to sensor

Hi, I started to use the Libre self funded when it was first launched. After a few weeks I had a reaction to the glue on the sensor. This would be nearly 7 Years ago. I would like to give this another go as it really helped me understand by blood sugar levels and they are a bit up and down at...

    30/70 to modern regime

Hi. I find the majority of Novorapid's action happens in the first 2 hours but there is a tail that lasts. With Lantus, while it last 18 hours (ish) I found it tends to have more impact in the first few hours then tail of over the remaining period. I found the amount of Novorapid to used...

    Injecting while at work.

I run my own company and am T1. Looking at this from the perspective of a company owner I would have to think about discrimination again a person with a medical condition. That said I would also have to look at the balance of the actions of the employee who injected. If you expose yourself...

Type 1 - Strange turn in insulin sensitivity

Happy to find this. Last time I went to see the consultant he was talking about my cholesterol being high and statins. I changed my diet to cut saturated fat but increased carbs to keep my weight up. I thought I would have to increase my insulin but in fact have become more sensitive and had to...

    How to gain weight?

When I was diagnosed I had lost about 15kg. After getting my BG under control I struggled to put on weight and even lost a little more. This was mainly due to not wanting to eat many carbs. Then this year, just under two year since diagnosis I managed to put on weight. I learnt to stop fearing...

    It's happened: Burnout

Hi @Emmotha, had very similar experience lately. Had to go to hospital for diabetic eye screening and bumped in to my DSN. Told her I feel I can't really be bothered at the moment and expect my next blood test to show this. She suggested going in to see her. Spent nearly an hour just talking...

    GP Practice Diabetes Clinic

When I was diagnosed my GP asked me to go in and see him. He wanted to discuss the outcome from seeing the specialist etc. He has been really good. He is also the surgery diabetes specialist and said the only thing he asks is I try to go to see him once a year. Even though I am also under the...

My big problem in control of my sugar blood(Hb A1c=8.83)

Hi. I use the Echo for my Novorapid and Solo Star junior for Lantus as they can both give half units. I know a few T1 adults that use the Echo too. Really worth it. I just asked my GP and he prescribed an Echo. For the Solo Star Junior my doctor prescriber the Solo Star by mistake. I just...

My big problem in control of my sugar blood(Hb A1c=8.83)

Hi. I am on lantus and Novorapid. Not sure about the metaformin as well though. Have you tried taking the lantus in the morning when you get up? This way by the evening it is at the back end and will limit night time hypo. I also us Novorapid to deal with meals to stop things getting too...

High Cholesterol & Statins... what do i do??

Strange how things differ. I saw the specialist yesterday. He said my cholesterol was high and had to recommend statins as I was over 40. He said it is completely up to me whether I want them and explained the pro's and con's. When I said no he said that is fine but I will have to get used to...

    Honeymoon Period

Hi. I'm on Lantus and Novorapid and have been T1 for a year and a half. When I first started they said to take the Lantus only then add Novorapid as an when. I have been up and down a few times with the injections. I think in the early days in is usual for your needs to drop once residual excess...

Can NovoRapid and Levemir That's in Use Be Put Back in a Fridge?

Hi. I quite often switch mine about. Especially the Novorapid as I can easily go a few days without using any. During the week when working it is in my bag and at the weekend if it's warm I put it in the fridge. My DSN said two things. One, she has had people travel around hot countries with no...

Life Insurance with type 1 diabetes

In most cases this is right and why life insurance is best taken when you are young and healthy. As you get older or things start going wrong premiums go up. Getting the policy I have now, even without stating I am T1, would be more than double what I am paying and I only took it 10 years ago.
