    Covid vaccination

Healthy man dies after vaccination, due to auto immune disease Following up on this discussion in an earlier topic: — One of the theories about how diabetes type 1 develops, is that your own immune system attacks your insulin producing cells. This could particularly happen after your immune...

Cant find a cereal that doesn't shoot my blood sugar right up!

I quit breakfast long ago, because of the dawn effect (rising values even by only standing up, even without eating). Cereals i also quit as almost all of them contain huge amounts of sugar, which give you the spike. weetabix is one of the few cereals that doesnt contain added sugar. Its carbs...

Did you have Covid-19 or the vaccin? What are your experiences?

Hi everyone, Since I (luckily) haven’t had the Corona virus (yet) and neither one of the vaccins. I wonder how people with diabetes type 1 have survived (or not) the virus and what are your experiences with the vaccins (for the few that have got them already). I know one guy personally, that...

Isolate or not? How to deal with friends who don’t follow Covid measure?

i just gave Kaylz91 a digital hug, that should be still allowed;) i completely understand how you are feeling. I find it hard to make the difference between friends following the rules/not following the rules. As no one is flawless, neither me. But having 2/3 occasions a week with (slightly)...

Isolate or not? How to deal with friends who don’t follow Covid measure?

I’m trying to follow the Covid-measures, seeing less people seeing. Testing when having a slight cold etc. Now some of my friends are following the measures a lot less accurately. That might be not too dangerous for them (we’re in our 20s and 30s) but Type 1s are considered a high risk group...

Louder alarm Freestyle Libre 2 possible?

Hi everyone, the Freestyle Libre 2 is finally available in my country. And I wonder, is there any way to have louder/longer high/low alarms? On the reader I only see one standard alarm option and a general setting for volume (which also affects the scan volume unfortunately). but what about...

Covid vaccine and T1D, what are your views?

One of the theories about how diabetes type 1 develops, is that your own immune system attacks your insulin producing cells. This could particularly happen after your immune system is triggered by a flu or by another disease. I have no medical background, but I did some research on how RNA...

    Crazy hypo in the morning

hi, yes it was time for my lantus/abasaglar injection. I always took it around 5/6 am to avoid high bg in the morning (dawn effect) when i get up around 7/8 am. So on Monday my bg was 12,2 around 6am and i thought the lantus might fix this as well.

    Crazy hypo in the morning

Thanks for all of your replies :) Looks like it could have been a ‘lantus low’ as well, but will probably never know. I tried Levemir before Antje, but it gave me blue spots. Maybe tresiba which you mention is different, i will check it out. Also the timer that can be added to the pen! Btw I...

    Crazy hypo in the morning

This one was really scary too as it took so long and wasnt sure if i switched the insulin and if i could drink enough sugar to overcome 25 units of novorapid, in case i took the wrong insulin. its not nice to hear Lantus caused this in your situation. May i ask to what insulin you have switched...

    Crazy hypo in the morning

No not into muscle probably as i never inkect into my legs. I could have switched the lantus and novorapid as it was early and still dark. But both insulinpens ‘feel’ very different (flexpens) so normally i wouldnt switch them. The ambulance crew told me to keep the novorapid in the kitchen...

    Crazy hypo in the morning

This morning i had a really terrible experience. i woke up around 6:00 and checked my bg: it was 12,2 mmol. i decided to take my lantus log term insulin shot of 25 units. i snoozed my alarm to wake up at 6:58 to wake up with a bg value of 2,2 and a further downward trend. 1 minute later my...

    Libre & running

Yes it will come off most of the times with most tapes, so make sure the tape will last as long as the sensor. I use Hansaplast Sport tape (it’s black) and thats really good tape. That one i even managed to get off leaving my sensor on (it was end of lifetime sensor anyway) still i wouldnt take...

    Libre & running

when i start running, my libre will start to indicate upgoing bg levels for about the first 10/15 minutes. I usually have to to stop after 10 minutes and walk for a little while, to stop the upgoing trend. My bg levels will then stabalize and I can run for about 30 minutes, until my bg will...

    Bolus for alcohol

I try to stay on German beer (Reinheidsgebot, so no sugar allowed) or other pilseners that have no added glucosesirop or sugar in the ingredient list. Mais beer like Corona is also quite lo-carb. Best beers have not more than 3g carbs per 100ml. So that would make about one sandwich (15g) for a...

    Freestyle Libre/Apple Glucowatch

Of course;) I just don’t like to have medical devices on my body. The libre sticker is for me just acceptable as its size is small and it doesn’t scream ‘medical device’ all over. A pump for example, or even the dexcom sensor I find too large. It might seem a bit weird, but just don’t like it...

    Freestyle Libre/Apple Glucowatch

From what ai found on the internet, the FSL 2 is being marketed as a flash reading system, which means it will be covered by the basic insurance in countries where the FSL 1 is funded as well. So that’s great. Only bad thing is that the FSL 3 will take ages to be released in my country or might...

    Freestyle Libre/Apple Glucowatch

Some good news from the Netherlands, as I just heard that the Freestyle Libre 2 will be available soon here. Apparently the Dutch rules for new devices are stricter than in other EU countries. This is why the Netherlands is lagging behind with introduction of new devices (at least with the...

    Freestyle Libre/Apple Glucowatch

With the evolving technology, I think it is not anymore reasonable to make a strict distinction between CGM and FGM for (public or private) insurances and politics. The Freestyle Libre 3 is just an updated version of the already approved (and funded by national health schemes) FSL 1, that offers...
