Does anyone think that only calories from carbs can make you fat?

Well as you know we have to adapt. I couldn't control my BG during the night and also my carb ratios were basically maxed out. The pump being more efficient in delivering insulin has solved this. Also the dawn phenomenon that created the high BG's in the early hours of the morning has completely...

Does anyone think that only calories from carbs can make you fat?

I'm only going to comment on the Hypoglycaemia part of your response. You definitely need carbs if you are having a hypo and this should be in soluble form and ifvyour next meal is more than an hour away it should be followed up with some slow acting carbs, bread fgor instance. I must admit...

Does anyone think that only calories from carbs can make you fat?

It's the carbohydrates. You still need cafbs but no harm with reducing them but speak to a nutritionist before you take any drastic action. All foods have a calorific value. A calorie is a measurement used to calculate the energy of a given food. Regards Martin

    Breakfast

Eat whatever you want, this is the simplest answer. You need to count your carbs and match it with your insulin ie Carb ratios. Breakfast for me is normally 3 weetabix with a handfull of walnuts, milk and sweetener which gives me a total oif 51 grams of carbs (different brands of weetabix vary...

Freestyle Libre - worth every penny

I tried these sensors for 1 month and found them to be out by 2. Mmol or more. The only useful part was the indicator showing whicvh way your BG was going with the directional arrow. The manufacturer does state that it does not replace finger pricking and bolusing based on the sensor reading...

    Importance?

Basal is the one you should take but obviously both. You could go carb free and do a basal test while you are waiting, just a thought if you end up being stuck. As the others have said your pharmacy will help you out. I've been offered insulin before. Regards Martin

    Libre on NHS

Good news for some who find it reliable enough but even The manufacturer states that it doesn't replace your test strips and the results shouldn't be used for your bolus/ Carb calculations. I used it for 1 month in conjuction with finger pricking and found it to be out by as much as 2 mmol...

    Diabetes and accidents

A lot of good advice from all of the above. I have had laser treatment on both of my eyes, this has not affected my vision in that i cannot see very well in fact it will have prevented further leakage of the blood vessels. As a type I diabetic your eyes will be checked yearly and as you have...

Can we push insulin through on the Medtronic pump?

Or you can just disconnect, remove the reservoir, rewind, load then fill then refit to your canular. No need to fill the canular again. This is what i have done in the past and the first time i did this was under the instruction of the Medtronic help line. Regards Martin

    So beans don't require insulin?

Baked beans are low GI. I was told not to bolus for the total Carbohydrate content of the baked beans but just bolus for the bit that says " off which Sugars" which is the added sugars in the sauce. It is confusing because the way i and i darexsay all of us here see it is, carbs are csrbs and...
