    Blood sugars rising during sleep

My daughter's blood sugar was rising through the night every night for months. Even if I gave her a compensatory dose or two of insulin her level would drop only a little and then continue to rise. She has just switched to a pump and it has been a godsend. Her blood sugar levels are now stable...

Type 1 Hypo treatment without wheat

Good morning all. I am looking for ideas for what to give my daughter for treating a hypo. We usually give her a carton of orange juice followed by a digestive biscuit or cracker. As she has just been diagnosed with a third autoimmune disease we are trying an autoimmune protocol diet and cutting...

    Autoimmune experts

Thank you Ert for your reply... You're right I'm surprised that each disease is only treated separately but as I'm trying to do my own research you've given me another (rheumatology) line to look into. X

    Autoimmune experts

Hello, I am trying to find out if anyone has come across any health care / licensed alternative health care professionals who are really expert in treating the overall autoimmune system. My 8 year old daughter has T1, vitiligo and is awaiting a confirmed diagnosis of morphea. It seems to me we...

Your Thoughts On The Cause, Of Type 1 Diabetes

My daughter's diabetes appeared at 3 and a half triggered by flu. Although I believe stress was a major factor. She and her (fraternal) twin sister started nursery school 3 months earlier and while her twin ajusted no problem she struggled enormously with the transition.

Symptoms Of Hypo Without -4 Blood Sugar

Sure, if my daughter says she feels low and when I check she's normal or even slightly above, it's often because her blood sugar is plummeting which I discover probably 15/20 minutes later when I check and find she's hypoglycaemic, unless I have already treated her.

    T1 toddler fussy eating

My daughter isn't keen on carbs (apart from sugary ones or crisps of course!) Jacket potatoes and baked beans are a bit of a life saver for me and I do resort to fruit quite a lot. Sometimes having a choice helps too (I guess she feels more in control).

    Heat/hypo warning..

Thank you that's reassuring. It's just unusual these sticky lows and after 3 in a row I can only assume it's the heat.

    Heat/hypo warning..

Hey Juicyj, thank you for replying. Sorry I didn't explain very well, the novorapid is only at meals and if her blood sugar is over a certain level (definitely not when she's low). Always following up with 10g carbs but for 3 nights in a row it's been a struggle to get the levels up over 4mmol...

    Heat/hypo warning..

Anyone having trouble getting low blood sugars up in the heat? For the last three nights my (5 year old) daughter is having hypos after bedtime and they are dropping rather than rising with the usual amount of gluco tabs. Tonight I reduced her novorapid by 1 u but she was still low (but not as...

    Advice please

What a lot to adjust to. You say the school are finding it tricky and are worried about him falling behind. Is there any counselling/emotional support available there for him? Young people can need time and space out while they are adjusting and if this is supported with help to understand his...

Thank you Azure, you have explained that really clearly and helpfully. I did not know that that is what happens with a failing pancreas. Big love to you.

    Worried! Advice Needed!

My daughters type 1 was certainly triggered set by a flu-type virus that we all had. We were all very thirsty and although I saw diabetes symptoms in her I was in denial and convinced myself for some time that her symptoms were just down to the virus. However looking back I think she was...
