Unopened insulin vials left inadvertently at room temperature

I got novorapid and levemir from my pharmacy and inadvertently left the vials at room temperature for 6 hours. As soon as I realized, I put them in the fridge. Will the insulin be ok or not?

Night highs after switching from Levemire to Tresiba

I switched from Levemir to Tresiba about 5 days ago. I inject the same amount of units in the evening. My levels are OK during the day but at night they go much higher than I would like. As soon as wake up in the morning, my BS drops down to normal range. When I was on Levemir, I would see this...

Confused by a Tresiba "Side Effects"

@pinewood - this incident aside, how do you find Tresiba? I am on Levemir and not sure if to make the switch as I change the doses when active quite a bit. Not the case now, however.

Do you add salt, magnesium, potassium to your diet?

Sure, that's just from the pistachios. When I last measured my daily potassium intake it was around 4000 to 5000 mg. I would think that should be sufficient.

    Chest tightness when low-carbing

Over the summer I had a few instances of chest tightness - overall it lasted a week or so. I think I experienced mild chest tightness already in the past but never that unpleasant. It freaked me out. I saw that others have reported chest tightness when low carbing. Has anyone experienced that...

Do you add salt, magnesium, potassium to your diet?

Hi everyone, this is very helpful. Recently I started getting occasional cramps and so I was wondering what could be the cause. I eat a lot of nuts which are rich both in potassium and magnesium. I would easily eat 100g pistachios daily which should contain 1000mg potassium, so I wonder whether...

Do you add salt, magnesium, potassium to your diet?

While low-carbing, do you add any minerals on a regular basis to your low carb diet? If so, how much on a daily basis? E.g. salt, potassium, magnesium.... Thanks!

    LADA and Graves’ disease advice

It's hard to tell, have you consulted your doctor? For instance, the presence of GAD antibodies indicates LADA.

Newly diagnosed - some questions. Thanks.

Sounds good. This is a small dose, I would not bother splitting it into two doses but that's just me. Even though it's a small dose, be careful if you do sports, you may want to decrease by e.g. 25 to 50% after an intense workout. I was started on Lantus too, later switched to Levemir. At your...

Newly diagnosed - some questions. Thanks.

In my case, the presence of GAD antibodies was the definitive proof of being Type 1/LADA. Yes, you need to start injecting insulin and yes, you may hypo. The good news is that CGM devices got so much better (I now use Dexcom G6) and so definitely try to get one. After some learning, you'll be...

Newly diagnosed - some questions. Thanks.

I agree with others in this thread and I also think it's the consensus in this forum: get started on exogenous insulin fast. It will help you preserve whatever insulin production you still have left - perhaps for years to come.

    Dexcom G6 - Amazingly Accurate

Yes, I think this is the difference with Android. The app is just not available on those unsupported phones.

    Dexcom G6 - Amazingly Accurate

Yes, that's a good point about the limited mobile phone selection that's supported by Dexcom. One way of looking at it is that Dexcom is saving you money because you're never on the latest phone. :)
