How important is washing your hands before a BG test?

Hand washing or using small 70% alcohol wipes when away. It's highly recommendable for both accuracy and hygiene. Gelatinous hand sanitisers will leave a moisturising residue, I never use them before testing. I always carry the small wipes in my testing kit. They are less than £2 per 100 on Amazon.

    Accu Chek Mobile

It may have taken some time to get the routine, but once done, the AC-Mobile is the best BG monitor available. The FastClix is the less painful of all lancet devices. I work in health services and move around quite a lot, and I can test with one move, without a problem. Cleaning the sample spot...

    Accu Chek Mobile

As usual, my GP surgery provides only for what they give, which is my GlucoRx, which is ok, since I'm doing most testing at home. I keep my Mobile for work, Uni, out and about, etc, so 2 cartridges x50 last a good 2-3 months...

    Accu Chek Mobile

I fully agree, I use it exactly the same way. Besides, Roche's customer services were excellent so far, with anything I needed.

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia

For some reason, yogurt with berries and milled linseeds never caused acid reflux for me, even if eaten really late. I remember though horrible, choking reflux before I totally gave up carbohydrates. I still have the Rennie next to my bed, just in case, and of course, water... So far so good...

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia

I agree with nosher8355, I usually go over at calories, and still losing weight, about 1 kg every two weeks. I went from over 125.6 kg in May, to 114.9 kg this morning :-)

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia

My trick is full fat yogurt and berries a couple of hours before bed, and if I have the time, preceded by some peanuts. Been religiously following this for a couple of months and it works;-) I can't sleep if hungry, it's really bad...

[MEDICAL SAFETY ALERT] Accu-Chek mobile & Accu-Chek mobile test cassette

Have two of these, using one for work and travel, with the other as spare;-) So far so good, although it took a while to learn the fine movements. At home I use an Accu-Chek Aviva. I noticed though, that the readings seem a tad bit higher than the SD Codefree for example. I'll keep an eye on the...

NHS Direct doctor says... NO testing when taking Metformin

Hi Kev, If you do a bit of research on the Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load of porridge, you will see that is VERY high, which causes unwanted spikes to T2s on Metformin -myself one...-. I might be good, mainly for tje insulin controlled diabetes, but otherwise to be cautiously considered...

After some erratic results yesterday, I had a FBG reading today of 6.1 My hayfeaver is driving me bonkers, with headaches, running nose, blah, blah, closely followed by chaotic readings, all over the broad spectrum of my increasing monitor fleet :-/ But things got better by today's evening, as...

You're most welcome. I have very sensitive eyes, due to family heritage of grey/blue on both lineage, so I keep a whole battery of drops, washes at hand, including in my work kit, so I know how you feel, poor soul! All the very best to you :-)

Hi AJ, I usually get over it in about 1 hour's time. Your soreness seems too long to me. What about calling the NHS Direct? Take care, and keep us updated.

    Accu Chek Mobile

Just got my AccuChek Mobile from Roche's promotional campaign, and it's truly great, as I can use it on the road or at work without the need to juggle with the bits. Cassette pricey, but at home I use my SD Codefree ;-)
