HB1Ac has increased from 45 to 46 in two months.

Saur, maybe you are over anxious about your (excellent) results, which the WHO regard as pre-diabetic. 48 is the point at which it considers diabetes to be out of control. Keep on with the controlled diet. My own HbA1c was 66 mm/m three months ago (out of control), and was down to 41mm/m...

    Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration affects the central part of the retina, the macular, and resulting in distortion and loss of central vision. Macular Degeneration

One of the negatives of diabetes is the adverse effects it has on eye sight. My diabetes was so unhelpful, that the focus of my eyes varied daily, such that I had an ice cream container filled with cheap pairs of spectacles to allow me to pick a pair for use each day. My eyesight was also...

I have been following the Low Carb Hi fat diet for 488 days and after a successful Diabetic review yesterday, I have a cholesterol of 4.2 and an HbA1c of 48 (being the WHO recommended diagnostic cut off point for Diabetes). In this time I have stopped Juvancita and Gliclazide. Brought my BP...

    Increase of glyclazide

As T2, I successfully overcame the need for prescribed Gliclazide, as well as reducing my Metformin by half, by reducing my daily carbs to 30 gm a day. The biggest "downside"I found to Gliclazide (verified by my GP), was its side effect of increasing weight, which took me up to a BMI of 41...

Do any of you wear diabetic ID tags/bracelets?

"In Case of Emergency" identification and personal details form (Remember the only stupid question, is the one you didn't ask, so never be afraid to ask for clarification if something is unknown to you!)

Do any of you wear diabetic ID tags/bracelets?

I do not wear an ID, but I do carry an "In Case of Emergency" (ICE) form in the see-thru folder of my wallet, showing my ailments, Meds, Next of kin, and GP. Every one who sees it thinks "What a brill idea! I am going to do the same!"

    Patient Liason Groups

On Thursday last, I attended my local surgery to hear a talk from the Diabetes Tutor. I learnt nothing more than the (to me) unhelpful unspecific"pap" that was doled out at the DESMOND course I attended, Not a mention was made about LCHF by any of the speakers, and though I raised the subject...

    Itchy legs

Having raised the question of itchy legs here, I am back to report my findings. I did not have any Piriton, but substituted a cheap Asda Hayfever 1-a-day tablet containing LORATIDINE, I accompanied this with a water only hot bath with no soaps or shampoos and a clean flannel, then followed up...
