Unplanned pregnancy and extremely high HbA1c

Hi @EEC Hi, try not to stress. Is there any way you can change the settings so your pump switches back on before your BS go higher? I don’t have this feature on my pump so not sure. I wouldn’t be too worried if your diabetes team aren’t concerned, but I would say that your pump settings need...

Post breakfast highs told to increase insulin causing hypo

Hello, just a thought, have you spoken to DSN about an insulin pump? My team started me on mine when I was 5 weeks pregnant with my daughter, 3 years ago now. They said they like all their pregnant patients to be on when, even if they’d like to come off it after giving birth. Sorry if this...

    Paranoid in last week

Hello @kitedoc thanks for your reply and for being so reassuring. I will do, I keep going to the maternity ward whenever I’m experiencing reduced movements so that I can be monitored and also so they can see how many times it’s happening. I know it’s only a few days but I can’t help but think...

    28 weeks + 2 days

Hey @Moosh97, my first pregnancy I was induced at 35+5 due to low blood sugars towards the end. Induction failed and baby became distressed so ended in em c section. I had an epidural, which really wasnt bad at all, they numb everything first, so you can’t feel a thing and I believe you can have...

    Paranoid in last week

hi all, this is last week in my 2nd pregnancy. I’m 37+3 and am having a c section on Thursday. I’ve had a few episodes of reduced movements, where I’ve gone in to be monitored etc. Sugars are not going low but SEEM to be a lot easier to control, this may just be down to my endo adjusting carb...

    Colostrum harvesting

@Ellie_Wilko thank you so much for your reply, that’s so helpful. I have one more question, sorry, how did you transport the stored colostrum as it’s frozen, did you keep it frozen? Or let it defrost as it still lasts for 6 days out of the freezer and I pretty much know it will be used for one...

    Colostrum harvesting

Hi @FingersCrossed hope everything went well with the c section! I bet you are so busy right now, but if you could let me know if colostrum harvesting was of any use (when you can get on here) I’d be very greatful. Also what did you do with regards to starving before the operation?

    Insulin ratios before birth

I will be asking my endo, it was just unfortunate that I had this advice by my obstetrician, after i had already seen my endo that day. But I just wondered if anyone had any experiences. I’m worried about going low the night before the c section and having to drink/eat and then they won’t be...

    Insulin ratios before birth

hey ladies, I hope someone can give some insight. So I’m going in for c section on the 28th, I will be put on a sliding scale, but my obstetrician has said that the night before I should lower all my basal/bolus rates. I’m assuming this is because I need to starve for a certain amount of hours...

    Steroids

Thank you @Scarlet10 im 30 and 3 days now, my consultant is just being very cautious, and gave me steroid, which I think is a good thing. I’d much rather be too prepared for preterm birth. Awh bless you, how did she do? Did she stay in neonatal for long? Xx

    Steroids

@eeb123 oh I’m glad to hear the good news! Hopefully I can convince the doctors when they come around at 9. Yes I had an emergency csection at 36 weeks after failed induction. I recovered really well, I didn’t need any pain relief at all after day 4. You will be fine, honestly, it will be lovely...

    C section question

Hi @Ellie_Wilko sorry to call on you in particular, did you have to go on sliding scale for steroids? I’m in having them now and sugars are going up:wideyed: x

    Steroids

@eeb123 what time did you have the steroids lovely? I’m doing good so far too - but I only had them 3 hours ago. Did they let you stay on injections? How many weeks are you?

    Steroids

@eeb123 yeah they are fine! They do sting, but it’s over very quickly, the nurse told me to wriggle your toes and ankle, it helps it spread quicker and the pain goes quicker too. Good luck for tomorrow:)

    Steroids

Last time I went on a sliding scale which was fine, but the nurses were terrible and didn’t underfatand that I didn’t have ANY background insulin (they don’t understand the pump at all! So when the machine ran out of insulin they put a request in to the pharmacy for more insulin, well by this...

    Early scans

Do you see an antenatal team? That’s who set it up for me. When I asked my midwife she said it’s not her who arranges it and my diabetes team said the same. When I went for my 8 week appointment the midwife at the antenatal clinic asked if I’d had one and squeezed me in on that’s day lol and...
