    HBA1C and Freestyle Libre

Thanks for that folks, mine run 0.6 to 0.8 lower than my actual BG so I guess I should expect a similar difference on the HBA1C done at the Clinic.

    HBA1C and Freestyle Libre

Hi everyone I'm wondering what difference Freestyle Libre users find between the estimated HBA1C on the app and actual blood test results? Thanks Gill

    Freestlyelibre system.

Hi Andy, I can answer your first question. I started to use the Freestyle Libre during lockdown and did the online training rather than attend the Diabetes clinic. I was only sent a sensor and told to download the app on my smart phone so you can definitely use the system without the sensor.

Has anyone here been a diabetic for more than 40 years?

52 years since age 4 for me, remember all of those things too Penquin 47210 except needle sharpening, that must have changed to just the disposable 1 inch thick, 2 inches long needles by 1968 when I was diagnosed (felt like ). Been using an insulin pump for the last 8 years and love it, wouldn't...

Self isolation for 12 weeks ?????

Well I’m super confused, rang my GP Surgery yesterday, said I had type 1 diabetes and asked if I would receive a letter telling me to stay at home for 12 weeks? Was told yes I would. Reading the guidance on the Gov website after reading what’s been said here, I won’t get a letter?

To Omnipod or not to Omnipod that is the question?

Thanks for that information, I like the idea of no tubing too.

To Omnipod or not to Omnipod that is the question?

Thanks, it's about the size of a mobile phone, you can't use your own mobile with an app unfortunately.

To Omnipod or not to Omnipod that is the question?

Hi everyone My current Medtronic MiniMed Pump is due for renewal and I've been given the option of a similar updated tubed pump or the Omnipod. Whilst I like the idea of no tubing and not having to disconnect to shower etc, I'm unsure about how much of a nuisance it is to have a separate PDM...

What question would annoy you the most?

“Are we going low Gill?” Imagine that being said like somebody is asking a baby a question

    Type 1 diabetes

1968 aged 4, I get my 50 year medal later this year . It hasn’t all been a walk in the park but, believe me, life with diabetes now is so much easier to deal with than it was then when it was pretty much guesswork. We had no equipment other than a metal and glass syringe you had to put in...

Type 1 diabetic & struggling to lose weight

Hi I lost almost three stone over ten years ago and have kept the weight off ever since. I left my carbs pretty much as they were but drastically reduced the fat content of my diet. I use lucozade for hypos.

Minimed 640g Insulin Flow Blockage Repeatedly - Help!

I've had the same pump as you for over four years now and never had that problem, you must be really fed up having to change the cannula so many times in the one day. could you perhaps use your upper arms or legs as possible sites if you don't want to revert back to your stomach? Best wishes Gill

    Appalling Advice from my GP!

I now have a pump but when using syringes, have to admit only changed if needle felt blunt, that could be up to two weeks or more of using one four times a day. No bruising, infections etc and used them for 44 years before the pump.I'm the same with lancets, can't remember the last time I...

    Pain on the finger tips

Hi, I test 6/8 times per day but as Andy says on the sides of the fingers and, to be honest, mainly my left hand. I must be lucky cos doing that for a long time now and very rarely have sore fingers. The BG machines these days only need tiny amounts of blood, use the sides of your fingers...

    Please help

I might sound unsympathetic but, it's no wonder your diabetes team treat you like a child, because you sound like you're acting like one, you are the only person who can help you, try taking this advice from someone who's had this condition for a long time, grow up and stop feeling sorry for...

    Struggling accepting your diabetes?

I don't think it's a case of accepting, I think it's more, you have no choice so get on with it. If you spend all of your time thinking oh woe is me, rather than this is my life so I have to do the best I can to make it the best it can be, you'll be miserable your whole life. The last 47...
