The last time I went to my Diabetic Clinic I spoke to my Consultant and she gave me a handful of my usual needles that I've been using for last 20+ years!

The needles in your picture don't seem to be the GlucoRx, the needles that we're concerned about have a yellow paper seal on the top, none of the ones in your picture are them! Tasha

Hi Geoff, it's the needle coming out of the 'sturdy holder' and remaining in my leg i.e. the needle has completely come away from the clear plastic holder for the needle!

The problem that I and other people seem to have with them is that the needle not only bends but comes away from the main body of the needle.I'm concerned about this because the needle stayed in my leg once I'd taken my pen away after injecting. As you can imagine I find this really dangerous...

Keep your eye on them!!

I'm a bit late in replying I too do the little shot first before drawing up my dose, as this was my breakfast insulin it was the first time I used that particular needle!

Just to let you know that I have been able to apply for a Yellow Card and written my concerns about these needles. I have had a notice back saying it has been registered, whether I get a response from the manufacturers is extremely unlikely in my view. Thanks for your help!

I'm using the 4mm ones as well good luck with going back to the decent ones!!

Hi thanks for your response, I'm still trying to get the needles removed from my repeat prescriptions, seems to be that £s are a major factor! Would add however that I have NEVER had any problems like this with my usual BD microfine needles!!

This is very true, I've asked at the Chemist which have just said I need to discuss with my GP, I too would use a cheaper alternative providing they were safe, let me know please if you have any further pointers!!

Thank you for your response, on registering for a Yellow Card there does not seem to be a section for things such as needles? I started with devices but obviously that is incorrect! Can you please help guide me in the correct direction to make this safety point? Thank you for your help!

Hi, sounds like the kind of problems that I have with these needles, likewise I am going to have these removed from my repeat prescriptions and go back to the proper, reliable needles!!

These needles are being prescribed rather than my normal BD Microfine needles. on using these needles not only do they bend easily but I have also had the needle come away and remain in my skin having to be removed using tweezers. A very difficult thing to do, in my view these needles should be...
