Rising BG with nothing to eat.

OK so I'm a long term member and I have a question. Today, and many days recently, I have woken up with a high BG reading. Last night I went to bed BG of 28.7. This morning 9.4, lunch time 12.0. I have not eaten any breakfast and only drunk water yet this pattern of rising levels during the day...

    Calculating bolus quantity

I would love to know how many differing methods exist for calculating bolus insulin injections. We all know our specific blood count but how do people convert this into a quantity to inject. I promise I will not be surprised if there are a zillion different methods being used.

    Confused And Need Some Clarity

Hi @joeynomates1969 , The first thing is DONT PANIC I take it that you are only recently diagnosed and are now learning that diabetes is complicated, shifty and as such you are the only one to make decisions regarding it but not without help from your medical staff. If you are taking such a...

    Blurred vision with lower carbs

My vision shoots up and down like nobodies business and it isn't only for high or low reasons. When my blood sugars change eg on holiday in the US, my vision changes as well but it always returns within a few ( up to 14) days.

    Libre problems

I finger prick prior to all injections which is currently 4 times a day. These are coincidental with meal times and bed time. I do recognise that there will be a difference in reading which may also be associated with time but the case in point was over a few hours with me eating jelly babies...

    Libre problems

Last year I was given a Libre to try. A wonderful piece of kit thought I until my BG went low and stayed low but the Libre kept on telling me my BG was fine. I am lucky in that I do not find it difficult to recognise low BG so I started finger pricking at the same time and found that the Libre...

    Advice please

I'm on the same insulin types as you are and for what it's worth I just read the bread packet which gives amount of carbs per slice. It's far more important to make sure you only use a low carb wholemeal bread type and I'm still looking for that. At present mine is Aldi wholemeal medium which is...

    Xultophy

I have been on this stuff for a couple of months and I think it's great. Like you I tried Byetta a couple of years ago but with bad reactions (kidneys) and also like you I was put onto this as I was taking a high quantity of insulin (NovaRapid and Levemir). I must say that I'm very impressed by...

Type 1 Been told something on holiday (upsetting) type 1 diabetic!

You think thats bad - I once had a uniformed cop pull his gun on me in a cafe toilet. I told to stop being a complete a-hole as it was insulin not crack I was injecting. He went very quiet and then left. It takes all sorts I suppose.
