    Confused !

If you've hypo feelings and you're conscious, test your sugars, eat or drink a correction amount to fix your sugars if they are low but don't do that if you ain't low. I'd speak to your consultant though as I'm type 1 and not sure about type 2 .... But the hypo suggestion is spot on in my opinion

    Prescriptions

I've never personally had a problem with my GP and under subscribing me for anything diabetes related. What I used to do though was write, on the repeat prescription part that the chemist gives you back, a note detailing your need for 4-5 boxes of pens, insulin vials or test strips. I got...

Did you also almost completely cut out carbs? [emoji46] The OPers menu sounded great for maybe a few carb free days but I think I'd be clawing the walls of it was a daily occurrence ! [emoji26] I'm type 1 by the way [emoji848]

    Diabetics in Police Custody

Joe-90 I'm type 1 been arrested and ultimately found not guilty at court. You didn't know me, but it happened to me. Just because you don't know anyone or have heard of any diabetic dying in custody doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

    Diabetics in Police Custody

You are so out of date Joe-90. How can you possibly say you'll never go out and put yourself in a position to be arrested??? Going out for a drive alone can put you at risk, let me explain. Someone bumps your car, you get out in order to exchange insurance details, the other driver and their...

    Diabetics in Police Custody

You must live and breathe indoors then as it does happen, you may never have met anyone found not guilty but surely to god you've read in the paper or seen the news of people who've been found not guilty of whatever, meaning they'd been wrongly arrested in the 1st place. That's just my opinion...

    Drinking alcohol and the pump

Any standard red, white or rosey wine has no carbs or sugars in it whether it is dry or sweet. It will not immediately effect your blood sugars, but depending on how much you drink the alcohol will always bring your levels crashing down. So always eat without a bolus after your drinking...

    Basal vs Bolus "units"

I know this is a few days late however..... You're correct in dividing up your basal into bolus'. Although at bed time ( I'm taking it you only take the 10 units once a day? ) I'd set an alarm on my phone, if you've a phone charger next to your bed as I usually do, wrap something around the...

    Holiday advice.

The hot sun will reduce his blood sugars so keep an eye on them and test regularly, if it's hot, the odd ice lolly will be good for him to bring his sugars up slightly. I'd tend to aim for higher bloods during the day and more normal at nights, although a lot will depend on his activity during...
