From 21.5 to 3.3 in two and a half hours?

If I just were to take my usual dose of Lanus (16 units) in the morning it wouldn’t affect me until mid afternoon. If I hadn’t eaten I would drop from 9-10 to <3 by about 2pm. I also take 10 units Lantus about 9pm. If I top up too much with bolus I can get a low alarm about 4am. I find my levels...

Started insulin, gained weight. Help please.

Well here I am Carol, I’m now on insulin and my weight has rocketed from 81k to 98.5. I have decided to go back to low carbs and will moderate my insulin use accordingly hopefully I will manage some weight loss with diet and exercise. It’s a bit like walking a tightrope, trying to keep my BG low...

    Pre diabetic

It’s a very frightening and frustrating time for you as information and advice can be hard to obtain and harder to understand. I’ve found this forum very informative. I would suggest you are very careful about your diet and avoid carbs when possible. Stay away from ultra processed food, try...

Skin Sensitivity and Soreness around abdomen Type 3c Diabetes

Hi, I have T3c diabetes I have a similar sensation on the top of my feet, they can be very sensitive but not all the time. I have some neuropathy starting under my big toes. No pain around my abdomen. I was on various meds for years to no avail and eventually started on insulin. This seems to be...

    Joint pain and insulin

Thanks I will change my profile next. I am due to see my GP soon for a review I will ask to change to Tresiba. Great to get this info as my usual review is with a practice nurse that can’t answer any questions regarding insulin. I’m lucky that I was prescribed Freestyle Libra 2 not sure how I...

    Joint pain and insulin

I don’t actually take statins but I am aware of joint pain re statins as my older sister had to stop taking them as a result of this. My lipid stats are all perfect except at that time, for high glucose. I take insulin glARGine in total 28 units per day and insulin aspart about 30 units per day...

    Joint pain and insulin

I’ve been using insulin for about 6 months. I have gained quite a bit of weight (83 to 97k), I’ve been eating more so I am fairy confident this is the reason. I feel as though I’m on high dose statins could this be caused by insulin? I take about 28 units of long acting insulin and around 30...

    Prescription hold ups

I’ve been trying for years to get my T3c dm treatment plan reviewed as the prescribed meds just do not work. A recent scan for something else showed moderate calcification, given higher glucose levels are my only metabolic parameter out of the normal range I pushed to get my treatment properly...

    Gliclazide and weight gain.

Sound like you are managing your diabetes very well. I’m T3c so meds just do not work for me and given I am quite thin anyway cutting carbs and fasting has a negative effect. Keep up the good work.

Type 3c - how many are we?

It’s a worry that no specialist T3 team exists given so many are suffering. I’ve been T3c for about 12 years after acute pancreatitis. It was caused by a cyst although the medics insisted it was alcohol caused. I probably drank more than was good for me but not really to excess. I am also...

Can Type 2 be caused by Pancreatic/gall bladder probs?

I was advised that the Gliclazide probably doesn’t make much difference but to take it anyway. Still non the wiser. This reply is quite a bit on from the original, I am due to have a check up next month, I am taking some research on T3cDM as the nurse seems not to be aware of T3 or the treatment...

Can Type 2 be caused by Pancreatic/gall bladder probs?

I had my gall bladder removed about 20 years ago after the usual symptoms suffered for years. I had. no issues or further problems for about 8 years, but then started to suffer from the same abdominal pain after eating almost anything except fruit. This went on for a couple of years and my GP...

    Hunger after injecting

I am T3c, my meds have little or no effect, unless I fast I am unable to get my BS down. I start the day between 8/10 BS and stay at that level until mid afternoon, as long as I don’t eat anything I can bring the readings down to about 7. I don’t want to end up on insulin it’s to complex for me...

Can Type 2 be caused by Pancreatic/gall bladder probs?

I had my gall bladder removed many years ago and in 2010 started to get the same symptoms as before and ended up in hospital with acute pancreatitis. The medics blamed alcohol and although I don’t drink that much they were adamant that was the cause. Since 2010 I’ve been fine no return of any...

Type 3c - how many are we?

I think I am type 3c, I was being treated for T2 and questioned the diagnosis after reading an article on the One Drop Forum about those suffering from pancreatitis. I have a history of gastric problems and was diagnosed with pancreatitis 2010. I’ve had no problems since then other than higher...

    Twinnings Sleep Tea Blend

Has anyone tried the above tea? It’s a blend of spiced apple & vanilla with camomile and passionflower. My wife suggest I try it to relax, if I drink it going to bed I wake up with a normal blood glucose reading. If I don’t have it my readings are at least 2 points higher. I Am I imagining this...

Can Type 2 be caused by Pancreatic/gall bladder probs?

I recently asked for a review and have been referred to the Community Diabetes Team. They have conceded that I am probably T3 and agreed to review my meds as the research indicates that Gliclizide may not work well for T3’s. I’ve been off it for just under a month and my readings are a bit up in...

    Gliclazide and weight gain.

Similarly I have been suggesting reducing my meds for about a year as research indicates T3c Diabetes is not affected by gliclizide. Any way last week I suggested once more to stop it and see what happens. Since stopping it my glucose readings have been lower. Of course I am being more careful...
