    C-section - Update Dec 20th

I had significant lows towards the end from around week 34 and went into hospital to get checked out. I really struggled with getting the midwives to understand that I was worried as to why I was having hypos not the actual hypos themselves. I eventually managed to see a consultant the next day...

Steroids at 38 weeks & being admitted to hospital

Hi VP83. I had a planned induction at 37+2 weeks due to my insulin needs decreasing to pre pregnancy needs (I'm type 1). I didn't have steroids and was told these aren't given unless baby was less than 37 weeks. I am also on MDIs and was very unsure of being a sliding scale but I have to say...

Insulin Needs Dropping In 3rd Trimester

Hi ladies, thanks for your messages. I've been in every day since Friday with monitoring and have had 2 scans done. Saw consultants yesterday and they are happy it is not pre eclampsia and that whilst it is not common, it isn't unheard of for the insulin needs to drop and not be placenta issues...

    Hypos taking longer to treat

Hi sorry for the delay, has been a crazy few weeks. I'm on injections and am very sensitive to the insulin and hypo treatments usually. I spoke to my diabetic nurse and she wasn't too concerned as it was only after the lunch time insulin that the issues were happening and to be concerned if all...

    Steroids - Update: Nov 17th

Hi, I haven't had steroids but my midwife told me that I would still be able to have them should it be necessary for baby. She said the risks for mum need to be outweighed by the needs for baby as it causes highs for blood sugars. She said that if I needed them it would be as in inpatient so...

Insulin Needs Dropping In 3rd Trimester

Hi all I'm now 34 weeks plus 4, type 1 on injections. My insulin needs have dropped significantly over the weekend. I've gone from taking 35 units of lantus to 20 which needs to be reduced further tonight to 18. Typically over the weekend nobody in the hospital understood the severity that this...

    Hypos taking longer to treat

Hi all, I'm now 32+6 weeks pregnant and have been really struggling with hypos. In order to get my levels in range of 6.4 2 hours post lunch, I need to have a snack straight away and at times even that's not working and I'm having hypos. Usually one jelly baby raises my levels about 0.5 and this...

    Mini aspirin

Hi, I've been taking it since 8 weeks (I'm now 27 + 4) for the same reason :-) was also worried initially as I'd never heard of it but was reassured by others on here that they were also taking it :-)

    obstetric fetal echocardiogram

Hi all, I'm going to be having my obstetric fetal echocardiogram at my 24 week scan next week and starting to get a bit anxious. Has anyone else had this done recently? Is it just the same as an ultrasound or should I expect something different? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using DCUK Forum

    Low blood pressure

Thank you everyone :-) I checked my BS at the time and it was 4.7 so not bad as such... I've spoken to my midwife today and she said to make sure I stay hydrated as that can cause BP to drop and if it still happens to see the GP to check iron levels. Hopefully it's a passing phase! 22 weeks...

    Low blood pressure

Hey, Has anybody experienced low blood pressure during their pregnancy? I've had a couple of spells now resulting in me nearly passing out. Today I was sat down at work while the children were building their Eco houses (I'm a teacher) and I suddenly went all clammy and had to get to the floor...

    Nighttime highs after eating late

Thanks @Mrsass it has slowed down a little now and I've had to drop by background a couple of units again. But still on more than I was. It's so strange how much the doses need to increase. I find it hard taking now over double my prepregnancy breakfast insulin - always worried I'm going to end...

    Nighttime highs after eating late

Hi @1Sarah1, thank you for your response. Nothing too unusual to eat - I had some French stick as I'd had a big picky picnic earlier on in the day. It was at 3:45am that I tested to find them high although looking back, I did keep waking up a few times really thirsty but didn't but 2 and 2...

    Excited but terrified!

Congratulations! At my first antenatal appointment, I had three appointments. I first met the midwife and she took down details, requested bloods and checked blood pressure. I then met with my consultant who's responsibility is for the health of baby and she ensured that I was taking all the...
