    Type 1 Caught short

See your GP. It sounds the same as my problem - stress incontinence, or urge incontinence, or both. If so, there is an easy fix, which your GP will be well aware of. The basic medication is called tolteradine, though there are several brand names, the one you get will probably depend upon...

Is Elevated LDL from a Ketogenic diet a Health Concern?

I've found this discussion to be really helpful, because I've had some worrying results this year. Short version: Total cholesterol has risen, up to 10.4, HDL fallen a bit from 2.18 to 2.15, but LDL is very high at 7.83. Total Chol/HDL is good, and Trigs/HDL is ideal, but HDL/LDL is much too...

    I Miss You/ Cbd Oil

Delighted to see you Kristin, hope you've been keeping well despite the problems with avocado !! (of all things! :meh:) Must admit, I don't buy many avos these days - for some reason they all taste 'off', a bit dry, no flavour, no creaminess that they used to have. I haven't been around much...

Low Carb Guru Professor Tim Noakes Again Found Not Guilty Of Misconduct

Delighted to read this - though we always knew what the outcome would be! :D Well done Prof and team - again ..... Let's hope that the SA dietitians finally learn to shut up, and possibly, (hopefully) sheathe their claws.

    Magnificent May Fast!

:sorry: You are right, of course, duly noted p.s. Just thought - do the 'like's and 'agree's or whatgever, get deleted as well?

    Hiking with diabetes

Well done that man! I thought it was probably Kinder but after all this time - & knowing that my memory is shot to pieces these days - I didn't quite dare to say so :nailbiting: Thanks for confirming @Rusne :) Hope you manage to sort an insulin regime that suits your body and your...

    Hiking with diabetes

Hi @Rusne, sorry can't help with your query but just wanted to say thanks for the stunning scenery! A grand reminder of what weekends used to be - 20yrs or so ago; sadly, no more.

    Retail Therapy Ideas?

try here for your flares! You'd be surprised! Believe it or not, they (flared jeans, that is) often turn up amongst the clothing rails, both male and female. And they shouldn't blow your retail budget completely. Plus, you can always re-donate them when you reach your sylph-like target and...

Fasting Insulin Tests - NHS says no...

sounds a bit like their excuse for rejecting any consideration of LCHF's "usefulness" in helping with bg control edit: my bold

HAS ANYONE EVER CHALLENGED THE NHS EAT WELL PLATE/GUIDE RE DIABETICS?

I reckon I must be too old as well. The nearest thing we got to nutrition was Maslow's 'Hierarchy of Needs'

Tesco ditches best before labels on some food items

BUT (there's always a 'But'), whilst possibly reducing food waste for Tesco, this change will increase the food bill for those people such as myself, who take delight in perusing the "reduced" section seeking bargain items that are close to their "best before" dates and are still perfectly good...

    Amazing & Awesome Avocados.

Hiya FunkyChicken2; I think I've read somewhere that avos are harvested before they are ripe, and generally ripen sufficiently for sale during transport and/or storage. Don't think I realised they wouldn't ripen if left on the tree - to be honest, I don't think I've ever thought about it...

    Amazing & Awesome Avocados.

Thanks for the ref @Tipetoo; looks interesting. I shall have a browse around that site later. There's always something new to learn here :)

    Amazing & Awesome Avocados.

Kristin, yes, always so helpful and willing to share; I miss her. As for Australia, that's interesting about your quarantine laws being so wide-ranging. Does that mean you are mainly self-sufficient for your foodstuffs? well, maybe reciprocal /share/exchanges with NZ. I knew about plants...

    Amazing & Awesome Avocados.

Where I am (West Midlands) we get avos from all sorts of places, mainly African countries I think (not seen any from Ozz/NZ yet), occasionally some from South America, but they are all usually the hass variety. The fuerte ones don't appear here very often; I've only seen them once or twice...

    Amazing & Awesome Avocados.

Good news people, thanks for your comments. It seems that things in the avo world are looking up again. The South African fuerte avos I tried recently, from Sainsbury's, were excellent. Creamy, smooth texture, couldn't detect a specific flavour (probably from years of being a smoker!) but...

Fasting Insulin Tests - NHS says no...

Apols for the off-topic comment (I've been following the thread, whilst trying to build up courage to have a go at fasting longer than a day :nailbiting::nailbiting: ); to answer this question: When I had a fasting insulin/insulin resistance test early March, the kit, (from Medichecks), came...

    Mod Elections 2018 - Outcomes

Best of luck to all the new Mods; of course, we shall all continue to be very well-behaved, as always, so your jobs will be easy o_O (or maybe not .... ). Thanks a bunch for taking it on, though - 'Modding' perhaps can be a pretty thankless task sometimes but your work really is appreciated...
