    Ever heard this...?

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. Just discovered my husband has been having an affair for the last 6 years and I've been going through a tough patch. Anyhow, I went out with 2 other diabetic friends last night, who have also been going through trauma. So one friend is saying, she's...

Why Do Some People Not Care?

I sing in a choir with another T2 who was diagnosed 15 years ago. She has gone from diet only, to tablets, to insulin. At last choir rehearsal somebody had laid a spread on but knowing the usual type of food ( sandwiches, crisps and cake! ), I took a beautiful, colourful salad. The other lady...

    Hi

For some reason I got a mental image of both of you on the top of a very high slide wooshing down, when I read your posts. Hopefully it will be that easy for both of you! Good luck ( perhaps we should run a book! )

    Pine Nuts

Sorry, I have a terrible memory for this kind of thing but I know I read somewhere that this happens-in particular with a certain type of pine nuts, the long thin ones I think. If you google pine nuts and metallic taste you may get a hit.

    Really concerned

Sorry Torch, no knowledge but it might be worth copying and pasting this in the gestational diabetes section in case some people only read certain subjects. Good luck!

    Cold

Oh most definitely Ailz! I complained about that in this very forum :D especially as, like you, I had always been warm body. Your body does adjust ( well at least mine did ). I suffered from almost continual headaches as well but now my body seems to have balanced itself again, don't feel...

    "It's the thought that counts"...

One of the girls in my singing group bought me a big box of wine gums for my birthday as she knew I didn't eat chocolate as I was diabetic  She's a bright girl but just didn't 'get it'. I said thanks, I couldn't eat them but my son and husband love wine gums so I would take it for them...

    Red Wine

The other thing I would suggest is check your quantities! Don't forget that 1 unit is actually quite small, smaller than most of us tend to pour!

    carbohydrates blurry vision

Do you test your blood glucose levels? A general recommendation at the beginning is to try various foods and test your bg levels to see what those foods do to you ( everyone tends to be slightly different as to what they can process well ). My friend told me a story though about a newly...

    I am not Obese

This is an interesting discussion. :D In my youth, I was skinny and very sporty. After my second child was born, the weight didn't shift away as it had done with the first child. By the time my kids had grown up, I was obese but still fairly active and oh my, did I love my food, especially...

    Are there any carbs

Just had the littlest piece of my son's Mars easter egg....it was horrible :!: :?: Had to go and have a teaspoon of peanut butter to take the taste away! I haven't had 'normal' chocolate for about 8 months or so...what on earth has happened to it while away I've been away! Funny what you...

    Hunger

 Viv, ooooh I know THAT feeling. My husband and I gave up 22 years ago and for the first 6 months we put all the money we saved in a bottle to use for treats. After that....well , I think the dog ate it! ( along with my children's homework, their odd socks, school report cards etc etc :D )

    Hunger

Hey Chris, any good at being creative? I know quite a few people who wanting to lose weight, take up things like knitting, sewing, embroidery. It keeps their hands busy and their minds occupied. :D Sometimes it's the little things that make a difference.

    Just started blood testing(type 2)

How MUCH of the chocolate did you eat? Quite a few diabetics find they can have a little ( sometimes a very little ) of what they fancy without too much damage. A couple of squares maybe, instead of a whole bar. If not, the recipe for white chocolate roughy ( not chocolate exactly..) in the...

    Low Vitamin D

This has just popped up on my facebook page. Don't know how well known it is or what is thought of the link between a Vit D deficiency and gestational diabetes as this hasn't been an issue for me for YEARS! But I thought it might be interesting for some...

How much Fat do you consume per day?

Well I've assumed that not limiting the fat does NOT mean eating a high fat diet but just not counting or caring too much and ticked the box accordingly. I don't like fatty meat or full fat milk or yoghurt but I love butter( not a problem as I just don't have anything to spread it on  )...
