    Book Corner.

About two-thirds of the way through Land of Love and Drowning, the debut novel for Tiphanie Yanique. Beautiful prose distinguishes this story of two sisters in the years after the Virgin Islands transitioned from Dutch to American protectorship. I like the two-narrator structure; it works for...

Does eating more fat increase weight loss?

This is because fat requires more work for your body to break down, and it makes you feel more satiated, with less hunger between meals which leads to snacking. Since it takes longer than carbs to metabolize, it gives you energy consistently throughout the day. Carbs cause your blood sugar to...

    Stretched skin

You'll care a lot less than this about it when you reach your goal weight. By the time I had lost enough weight to see that I would have quite a bit of loose skin, I felt so well and healthy and loved the way my body had changed so much that I didn't care at all. Things you can do: Ab exercises...

    New diabetic fitness tips

I highly recommend to eat at almost the same time everyday. Have a controlled workout plan and lifestyle. It can be realy hard, but it educates your body to produce the insulin at the right amount of time, even if sometimes it may not be enough (it depends on what treatment you follow if you...

Which coffee machine do you use ?

I bought my Delonghi Magnifica with grinder last year and and I love the coffee it makes. It took me a while to get good beans and the right brand for my tastes and to not run too much water through but I never buy coffee anymore because I prefer my home ones(crema on top and all).

Which coffee machine do you use ?

My trusty Philips still works splendidly, but it's white in colour and is showing signs of age, so I'd like to change it. I only use my coffeemaker in the morning on workdays, and probably twice on my days off, so I don't need a super heavy-duty unit. I'm looking at a small pump system. I have...
