    I agree with noble head. I use the fastclix too, it's definitely the best one I!ve used. I test quite a lot as I am on an insulin pump and also don,t have brilliant hypo awareness!

    I'm on a pump and my status days "Diet only". I've changed it umpteen times and it still keeps reverting back to diet. I have tried again just now after reading your post but I'm not holding my breath that it will stay correct :(

    I've been on metformin for many years. Firstly to help lower insulin doses and my DSN also told me that it provides protection for the heart.

    I too no longer have good hypo awareness. All I do is test frequently. If I don't "feel" quite right I test.

    Did you also use acetest tablets to check for ketones? I drop of urine and then wait to see if they changed coolur. I think it ranged from pink which was ok to dark purple which was very bad!!!

    Newbie poster - want to move to a pump

    You're not too old at over 50! I got my pump when I was 55. MY Hba1c hovered between 8-9 and I had also lost hypo awareness. I have the accu-chek combo which works by blue tooth from the glucose meter to the pump which delivers the insulin.. I love my insulin pump and would hate to go back to MDI.:)

    Thank you everybody :). Yes I do feel it would be nice for a bit more fuss to be made. Perhaps a presentation with newly diagnosed diabetics present to let them see you can live healthily and happily with Type 1 :):D

    I got mine last year. My consultant contacted DUK and I received it about 2 weeks after my clinic appointment. My next goal is to get the 75 year one. :)
