    New to the libre sensor

I think you are trying too hard to get your blood tests low. Hypos are dangerous. As a Diabetic for 64 years I find l am trying too hard to keep mine low. My specialist is lovely but is counting every time the Libre goes below 4 and he is concerned of the danger to me. Be kind to yourself.

    Type 1 Work issue

I have been Type 1 for 62 years. I have never injected in public. Possibly because when I was first on Insulin the syringes were made of glass and the insulin came in small bottles. A nightmare ! Thank goodness things are so easy now. At my age I feel lucky I use a Libra which saves all the...

Has anyone here been a diabetic for more than 40 years?

I have clocked up 62 years as type1. At first I thought my life was over. Diabetics died young and suffered amputations. I was scared of needles. I was on tablets for a bit with a starvation diet to avoid injections. This didn’t work and I lost even more weight and had no energy. I was caring at...

HypoBand - The Cold Sweat Alarm

I purchased this band several years ago as I was having night hypos. It kept going off when my blood was in the 7 range. I have still got it but it is no good as it goes off when Hypos are not happening. It lives in the junk drawer.

Type 2 How come blood prick tests can change within minutes?

I have just returned from a trip to Malta I wore a Libra and the sensor I wore worked perfectly. I think the reader and sensors have to be compatible.

    Libre Fail!

Thank you for the prompt reply. I think I will wear my Libra sensor to fly. I will switch the reader off while the plane is in the air. I saw my specialist two weeks ago and he is going to recommend I get a supply of Libre sensors. Have you endured about them yet? It saves a fortune in testing...

    Flu jab 2017!

Margie at home I never have a flue jab now. Twenty four years ago I had one and was ill for over a month. So far I have been fine. I worked with adults and children and never refused work with infectious people. I think it built up my immune system. I've been type 1 for 60 years.

    Nocturnal hypo unawareness and driving

I use a Libre with the sensor and find there is sometimes a difference between the blood test and the sensor. My doctor said there is a gap of 20 mins between the levels. It is interesting to note how levels go up even if you have not eaten for several hours. It is expensive to buy but I...

Alternative theory proposed for how type 1 diabetes develops

I have had type 1 for nearly 60 years. No other member of my family had anything which could have been diabetes. At the time of my diagnosis all the aunts were going through all the deceased relatives and could not recount any other relative who could have had Diabetes. I was told it was...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

I stick my sensor on with Mefix tape as I have lost 2 because of sweating because of hypos. Abbott replaced the first one and offered to replace the 2nd but as it was my fault. So far the tape has kept it secure.

    Freestyle Libre - 3rd applications

I have started using Libre as my diabetes is all over the place. I am type 1 and have had it for 58 years. I find it a great help but costs £98 a month. I think the NHS should help as you save on testing strips. It is fairly accurate I test if I think it is wrong. Blood sugars go up and down...
