Yes it was on the Safari Home page, I've just rebooted my computer to see if that would make a difference but the message has not reappeared. I'll see what happens!

Hi @lovinglife , the message came up on the Safari home page, before I clicked on any websites. I do however remain logged in to this site, so I can go straight to the forum without logging in every time.

    Statins again

When I requested my last round of blood tests in November, HbA1c, kidney function etc, my (new) doctor asked me if I would consider taking statins if my cholesterol came back high. It has been in the mid 5's previously. When I said I would not, he then refused to add cholesterol tests to the...

    Very Unwelcome News

Goonergal and I joined the forum at about the same time, I always found her posts to be thoughtful and helpful as she built up a large body of knowledge over the years. A good kind person, she will be missed by all.

    Cauliflower Rice

I just chop up a cauliflower, put in a food processor for a few bursts until it looks about the size of rice. Sometimes add herbs to the mix. Split up the "rice" into meal size portions (approx 200gm for two). Freeze. When we need it, put in a microwave for about 5 mins. Goes great with stews...

I kinda lost control this Xmas

On New Years Eve we visited friends for a meal. The host has just been diagnosed as Pre-Diabetic and knows that I have been sucessfully low carbing for over six years. Despite this we were served a very tasty meal, but with pasta as the main "bulking" part, so not much chance to fill up. When...

    Diabetic bladder dysfunction

Hi @Dalrymple , In a word, no. I don't know anything about medicines but if you reduce your carb intake to a minimum, you should find you pee a lot less as high blood sugars tend to make you want to flush out your system. However having said that I note you are "of an age" where you may have an...

    Struggling with diet

To get back on the OP‘s topic, I would agree with @Daibell , restrict carbs as much as possible and fill up with fats and protein, don’t go overboard with any one thing, have a broad range of food, avoid highly processed food, the fewer the ingredients the better.

    What’s happened to the forum?

Hi, I had ads for a few days but they disappeared a day or two ago and I've been ad free since. Could it be something to do with the browser used? I'm using Safari on Apple devices.

Type 2 What's the current soundtrack to you life ?

I haven’t heard There but for fortune since way back when, sung by my teenage crush, the song used to haunt me. I’ve just reminded myself of the lyrics and as you say the last verse is so relevant to today it could have been written this year. Good to see Joan is still around.

    Newly diagnosed looking for advice

Hi @T2 Woman , welcome to the forum and well done for taking the bull by the horns! You are certainly heading in the right direction. Take it slowly at first but many on here go a lot lower with their carb intake. For example your two Weetabix at 26 gm carb is about my total for the day! For...

    Seed crackers M&S

Found some seed crackers in my small town M&S (Derbyshire) today. There were not many packets left on the shelf so l don’t know if that is it, or if there will be any more!

Apple I watch buy upfront or pay monthly through tarriff

I don’t have an Apple Watch, but I do have a Garmin watch which measures Pulse Ox , blood oxygen levels. I find it to be unreliable in this respect, under reading by several percent. In fact so much so, I bought a Pulse oximeter unit (about £35) as one of the symptoms of Covid is low O2 in the...

    Ketone blood meter

I have been in ketosis for several years, initially I tested at random times during the day, not every day, as you say the strips are expensive. I found that no matter when I tested, I was always showing ketones levels from about 1 ( in the morning) up to 3.5 ( in the late afternoon). Nowadays I...

    Guardian article: Food Myths Busted

It may be a rare pro meat article but it is not unique, if you scroll down the page, there’s a piece referenced by Jay Rayner from 2014 that also praises meat and fat consumption! By the way, @Oldvatr the Guardian does not have a pay-wall, it is free to read online, they want you to register...

    type 2 and blood pressure

18 months ago I had a covid like infection, undiagnosed, and my BP increased to around 120/75 for quite a while. Recently it has gone back to where it used to be, about 105/67, so perhaps depending on your increase, it is a temporary change. Incidentally Mrs Typin has highish BP of around 130/80...
