    Lost my diabetic uncle

I'm not sure if this is the right board or not, but last week I lost my diabetic uncle. As he didn't make much effort to control his diabetes beyond taking medication (Type 1, insulin dependant), I'm sure the majority of his health problems stemmed from this fact, even though age would also...

    Low Carb Coconut Macaroons

My low(er) carb journey as a veggie

Fantastic idea @Avocado Sevenfold , it looks really good too! You could also do it as a small parcel shape too I'd imagine, using 2 slices - mini low carb 'enchiladas'? Or stack a few together with appropriate stuff in between to make 'quasedillas'? Not sure I've spelled that right!

My low(er) carb journey as a veggie

I forgot I had this thread on the go! Probably because during my absence I was also failing miserably to low carb properly :( @Avocado Sevenfold that Indian vegetarian website looks amazing! Maybe some of the not so low carb recipes can be adapted a bit to become a little more suitable...

    Vegetarian/Vegan Low Carb Recipe Index

Back online regularly now, after a number of issues (technical, financial, & work pcs blocking the website :( ). Got quite a bit of catching up to do, but I still have more to add to the list so will hopefully get back to that soon. Feels quite strange being back online properly, not just...

Any diabetics work in the fitness industry?

Thanks for the replies, definitely encouraging to hear! As life has now settled down a bit (hectic few months, and unable to get online much either), I need to start trying out different activities and see what suits me :)

My low(er) carb journey as a veggie

Well, that week's holiday didn't go to plan! I caught the virus my mother had, which left me feeling dizzy and sick for most of my time off work :( So no trying new recipes, as I'd have put myself off them (a lot of food tasted a bit strange). Now better and back at work, although still...

Any diabetics work in the fitness industry?

That's encouraging to hear, it's something I'll investigate further. First to find what I would enjoy teaching the most! Thanks guys :)

    Hobbies anyone??

Lenny, that sounds amazing! I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Rock Choir. I'm going to look into whether there's one in my area :)

Any diabetics work in the fitness industry?

I was wondering if any diabetics (T1 or T2) work as fitness instructors, either part time or full time? I'm still trying to get into the habit of regular exercise (I enjoy it, just lack motivation to do it around work), and was wondering how feasible it would be to be diabetic and either work...

My low(er) carb journey as a veggie

Is the nature's garden stuff nice @figgywiggy ? Been trying to read reviews on Amazon etc for different products, and they are all mixed. I'd almost decided to try Atkins shakes, if they are vegetarian (trying to find out), as they were getting good reviews for taste.

My low(er) carb journey as a veggie

I'm planning my week off work (next week) with near military precision. I figure it's a good time to try out some of the new recipes I've found, as I'll have plenty of time to make them, and have something else on standby in case I don't like the end result! I am also going to return to the...

    Whey protein drinks?

that's really encouraging results. I'm seriously considering replacing some of my weekday breakfasts with a suitable drink, as I'm not motivated to make anything in the morning, and rarely have time either. A quick zap with a blender, than out the door with the 'meal' would suit me quite well...

    Vegetarian/Vegan Low Carb Recipe Index

I thought that recipe looked really good - was it one of @WhitbyJet's recipes? A lot of the ones I've linked so far were from her :) Been a bit quiet here as home internet is down, I've been using my lunch hour to do boring things like pay bills. Should be back up by tomorrow evening...

Just When You Thought It Was Safe ....

That situation is awful to be in, really tough on all involved :( Look after yourself as best you can under the circumstance x Hopefully once you are able to get back to low carbing, you will find it easy to slip back into the routine, especially after realising how rubbish all the high carb...

Joys of Metformin! (just starting today :) )

Hopefully you're right, and the two different medications will mean your side effects aren't too bad. What I found when I started was that I had to cut out a lot of foods until things settled down - however these were all things I would have needed to cut down anyway (fizzy drinks, pizzas) so...

    Vegetarian/Vegan Low Carb Recipe Index

Great, makes it easier for me to find to update it as well :) I think the desserts will migrate onto a separate thread once I've finished linking them, there's just so many (I've not even touched the thread devoted to low carb chocolate recipes!)

    Diet

Thanks for linking Catherinecherub. The vegan recipes are mixed in with the vegetarian ones currently, so you'd need to look for them. I'm also not sure how easy it would be to veganise a lot of the cheese based recipes, having never used vegan 'cheese' but the recipes may give you ideas.

My low(er) carb journey as a veggie

I'm also not very experienced, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you. Have a look at other threads on the low-carb section of the forum, lots of help in those :) The low carb veggie recipe thread has been started, still working on it but already a lot of recipes already posted by...
