    Rising Blood Glucose Levels

I was prescribed statins two months ago to be taken alongside my usual 2000mg Metformin dose. I have noticed that in the last few weeks my waking level has increased from my normal 7.8 or thereabouts to somewhere around 10. I have not changed my diet from my usual in that time but am cutting out...

    Hi, just started testing.

Still worth a check-up with a GP.. A full blood test and Hba1c will tell you and your doc the average blood glucose levels for the previous few months along with any other levels such as white blood cell count, any ketones present and your cholesterol level.

    Should I be self monitoring?

@johnrubinstein Well done on your BG levels, clearly due to your hard work. Many members here feel that testing regularly helps them to understand how their body reacts to certain foods and this in turn can help achieve desirable results. I tested 5-6 times a day for over a year and it helped me...

    Vision

@thomasrichmond_16 My distance vision was so bad all of a sudden pre-diagnosis, I went for an eyetest at specsavers, they prescribed specs and didn't ask me if I had any health issues. Two weeks later my new specs were useless... I went to another optician who did ask the right questions.. was...

Do all diabetics have to have a licence renewal...??

@townsy When I was first diagnosed, I needed insulin to lower my glucose readings and get them more stable. I was advised to surrender my driving license and reapply. This I did and a new licence for 3 years was issued. Since then.. I have stopped taking insulin and take Metformin instead. It...

    Statins and CoQ10

@maxjoe121 Hello. I had a nurse mention statins to me after her telling me that my cholesterol was high. Lucky for me my diet changes lowered my levels for me, as yet I haven't been given statins. I'd have to say go with the advice given by your healthcare team... try them if you need them...
