    What fruits are best

As the others have said it is very individual, my father could not tolerate fruit at all and oranges and bananas in particular sent his blood sugar soaring. I can tolerate fruit of all kinds with no change in blood sugars whatsoever. Testing is the key, have the fruit and check your sugars and...

    Was it a hypo?

I have asked this on the type 2 board but my hubby says I should ask properly in the ask a question section. I am a Type 2 diagnosed in August 2011 and controlled by diet. I normally have a blood sugar of between 5.5 and 6.5 when tested, not tested often of course due to expense and not being...

    Hypo??

Thanks Sid, I'm not a fainting type person and never had an episode like this. I wasn't that stressed or feeling overly excited, happy definately but not overly so. We were on our way back after all the excitement and I was looking forward to getting home and looking through people's cameras and...

    exercise

Phew  thanks for that clarificaiton. My exercise tends to be first thing in the morning when I'm working full time (otherwise I chicken out or find things to do) or I do my session an hour after lunch. I have my main meal with my family in the evening and it does end up being a little...

Can't stop crying not taking this very well

Every person is different with the things that trigger their blood sugars but obviously some things are general like sweets and biscuits. I found that the sauces in jars would put my blood sugars up and I had to learn to make complete home cooked foods. I also do Slimming World and I eat a lot...

Can't stop crying not taking this very well

I know how you feel and I'm sure lots of others here do as well. Lots of type 2 sufferers live long and healthy lives because they make the changes necessary and plus having a healthy lifestyle will also give your lovely 2 year old a long and healthy lifestyle to emulate. You will get advice...

    Breakfast help

Isn't it interesting to see how individual diabetes is for us all. I can tolerate all fresh fruits and porridge and potatoes. As long as the food is not processed my BS can cope with it. All breads sent the level up as did any ready meal and of course all sweeties.

Was Naughty but got away with it....?

Therein lies the rub, I have no clue what any of them are doing to my blood sugar :D I am going to have to find something to cut out of my budget to find the money to get strips for the machine. I got given a free machine with 25 strips when I was newly diagnosed and I got a lot out of the...

    exercise

From the sounds of it you are exercising for 45 mins after every meal, if that is the case then that is dedication  I am struggling managing a single session 5 days in a row :?

    exercise

Having been diagnosed with type 2 and being overweight and a middle aged mum I decided to not only completely change my diet but also to start exercising. I have never enjoyed exercising and have never voluntarily done any not even as a child so this was a huge thing. Having seen all this...

Was Naughty but got away with it....?

For those of us controlling by diet the choice to have somthing is really difficult because we have no clue what it is doing to our blood sugars. Christmas has been exceptionally difficult and as my first Christmas with diabetes I had no clue really except to cut out all treats and goodies which...

    Breakfast help

Can you manage cereals or museli type things? I'm thinking of things like the Dorset Cereals with the oats and fruit which you could mix into your yogurt. A nice big fresh fruit salad is nice as well along with a hard boiled egg and ham. Cheese sends my cholesterol levels way up so I have to...

    Slimming World

Weigh in day for me today, I've been a little more relaxed this week although I think I'm somewhere close to being within syns. I decided I'm obsessing too much about it and need to relax so I didn't fill in the food diary. Fingers crossed for another loss this week. I'm just a little...

    Slimming World

This week was a 1lb loss. Yet again on plan and still taking the scenic route lol. Makes me so frustrated when others in group say oh I ate cake and biscuits and a huge bag of chocolate and still lose 3lb or more. My leader is going to look through my food sheets and see if she can see...

    Slimming World

Unfortunately for last week yes, my body decided not to bother losing weight and put half a pound on even though I was 100% on plan. This week I have been good again and hope that whatever the reason was last week I get to lose this week. I have stuck to the plan apart from 3 points over on...

Around 10 Finger Pricks And No Blood!?

I have a terrible time getting any blood for finger prick tests and usually end up with very bruised fingers, funny how no blood comes out but I get bruises. I sometimes get a little blood and then nothing and by the time I've got enough blood out the reading is high because it has been exposed...
