    Problem with Novo Pen

From reading you account I do think that the Hospital clinic should have been more helpful, i'm not T1 and not on insulin but I'd have probably gone to their A & E as a last resort given you BG was getting higher. I've had no contact with hospital diabetic clinics before but surely this kind of...

    High levels

I would think after sometime you would have all the usual dangerous complications of high glucose levels such as your eyesight going or even losing a foot. I'm no expert but I think even if you keep the DKA from happening you are still at a high risk of all the other stuff. I'm sure there are...

    Driving Instructor

Hi @SydnieO I would have thought that where medication for diabetes is concerned and those on insulin have to report this to the DVLA then the same criteria would apply if a person was instructing someone to drive as technically you are responsible in both instances if you know what I mean...

    Blurry sore eyes

Hi @dj_wayne I think it's fare to say we are all different and where your eyesight is concerned you'll probably get a better idea after having your retinal scan, but if you are worried and your eyesight appears to be getting worse then go see your GP as soon as you can and don't wait for the...

    Need advice about E-cigarettes - I am type 1

Hi Callum, as a former regular smoker I just wanted to say good luck with this. I gave up Oct 16 and went cold Turkey after an unsuccessful trial with vaping. I found these e-cigs gave me terrible sinus problems which in the end made me go back to the cigs. Stick with it though and if vaping...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

10.0 this morning and the highest FBG since I started testing in Dec 16. I'm just going to wait it out until it drops, which I will

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

9.5 this morning (up from 9 yesterday) tested a couple of hours later and was 6.5, maybe the morning high has something to do with a change in metabolism from 2 weeks out of the country and things are taking time to adjust back to blighty mode IDK?

    struggling to get blood

As a last resort you could try a lower gauge, 28 & 30g are high and will not make a larger hole than say a 21 of 23 gauge. I guess you really need to see how much discomfort a lower one will give you. I know some paramedics use lower gauge in order you obtain a sample a quickly as possible.

    Newly daignosed

Hi @Geeme1971 welcome. As @Bluetit1802 has said porridge will push your blood sugar higher so you really do need to think about finding something else. I would have thought they would have prescribed another drug besides the Metformin given how high your numbers were, it may well be they are...
