Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I'm normally high 7's to low 10's. My record was 5.5 many years ago with CGM, but I have found CGM to be very unreliable and unpredictable so I no longer use it.

    Going back on the pump

I'm assuming you are MDI including a basal insulin. If so I would see a Diabetic pump Educator (or equivalent) as you have to reduce the basal the night before and I think the pump is reduced as well. They will know all the tricks and by how much, so that is the only safe way to go back to a pump.

    CGM Privacy

For those using Dexcom and Guardian CGM (and maybe others), what are your thoughts about your diabetic teams monitoring you via the cloud? You go high or low (select a number) and your diabetic team gets an alert on a dashboard when they next login? Your license is revoked if you go high or...

    Medtronic 780g + Guardian 4

How reliable is the I wish I had seen your post a week ago!, I'm about follow you. I had CGM on the 640 and it was a disaster (no complaints with the pump, it's a keeper). The CGM would wake me all night and they never lasted. Did you have the G3 or G4, I'm guessing G3 by your reference...

Keep getting told by people that I can get rid of Diabetes Type one

I get rid of my diabetes every night as soon as I go to sleep. Unfortunately it finds me with a vengeance every morning when I wake up. There are Chinese cures for T1...

    Banning snacking on public transport....

In the 3rd largest city in Australia, they have the same laws only stricter, no drinking as well and by no drinking I mean all liquids including water. They have transit police that frequently walk through the trains and a lot of CCTV, so enforcement is not a problem, the only way I have seen...

    US Insulin Costs!!!!

In the land of Oz you either pay $AU5.00 (approx) if you are on welfare or $39 for 5 box’s of 5 3ml pens (or equivalent). The government pays AU$160. The reason for the 160 price tag is that is what the government offers to manufacturers. If the manufacturer doesn’t agree you can still sell...

    Extended honeymoon not feeling good

If you felt good on insulin and now you don’t have a chat to you endo about going back on insulin. I suspect I’m not the only one here, but my main motivation for taking insulin and eating carefully (most of the time) is about feeling good, the health things are just a bonus.

    Methylphenidate/ritalin & blood sugar

Hmmmmm drugs yes please... This is a question for your Dr. A good pharmacist maybe able to give you pointers, but at the end of the day the Dr knows (or should) what impacts one drug has on another. Weather, stress walking past a chocolate shop or fancy bakery, lack of sleep, exercise all...

    Pre pump training

A laid back DSN is good. I have a laid back DSN, she is awesome. Laid back does not mean inept, I think it’s the opposite, they really know what they are doing and create the least fuss and stress in the process.

Just a plea to all you type 1s on a pump

It appears the carb ratio is out. Are you allowed to modify your dose? I would suggest a brisk walk should do the trick. I suspect the cheese maybe adding a delay. The pump will have a trick to deal with that, however it’s too early on your pump journey for your pump to do tricks, your DSN...

Starting pump therapy and I'm stuck

The Medtronic 670G should be out by now, but quite expensive and Medtronic’s customer service is appalling. You will find a pump amazing the way you can control your BGL. I don’t notice being tied to the pump. I live in the land of Oz, so it’s get out of bed time. I had to check just then...

Should I be storing "in-use" NovoRapid in the fridge in this hot weather?

For all you Brits, we are doing you a favour. We are acclimatising you for Australian conditions as you will need to come over to Aus for a long holiday while Boris sorts it all out for you. The bad news is 25pens of insulin will cost about $40 AU. At least the needles / caps are free. At...

    Humid weather affecting me?

Before I had an air con in the bedroom due to hot nights my BGL’s were all over the place. I think it had more to do with stress and sleep deprivation.

    Keeping cool

I live in Australia and we can go weeks where it never goes below 25c at night and over 35c during the day with the insides of cars getting way over 55c. I have never had s problem keeping insulin on me, just don’t leave it in the car if the car is in the sun. We get 25pens on one...

    Question about novorapid sensitivity

I’m off to the South Pole no more Diabetes! I have noticed something similar. When many days are over 35c I use more insulin. I live in Australia, is there any room left in England, for another Aussie, I know we have filled up London.

    donating blood?

In Australia you have to go through a few hoops but even on insulin you can donate, unless you have complications.
