Hi Rosie, I've not been on for ages and have just caught up with this entire thread. Fung is right, he is pretty much always right, but I also think you maybe confusing the real issue here. Yes, it is very important to lower insulin, but it goes hand in hand with blood glucose. The only way a...

    Can anyone advise please?

Well done in such a short time. You are now within the pre-diabetic range. Ultimately it's only a decision you can make in discussion with your HCP but it is certainly in your favour. If it were me, I'd be asking for another review in 3-6 months time and carrying on doing as you are.

    Do you ride a motorbike?

Only just seen this post, I ride the 2017 Triumph street triple 765RS at the moment. Bikes have been a big part of me for many years.

    Cannabis use and diabetes

I' know someone who had this, it wasn't pleasant for sure. My risk is minimal as my consumption is minimal, no more than 0.2-0.3g in an evening. I then leave it alone for 24 hours. Moderation seems to be the most sensible approach.

    Cannabis use and diabetes

Not posted for a while but wanted to chime in. I vape Cannabis flower every evening for the past year. It helps with anxiety and stress for sure and from personal experience it has helped with BP and glucose metabolism. I can see a fasting reduction of 0.5 on the meter within minutes of vaping...

Who are you voting for in the general election 2017?

I don't know what everyone else's experiences are like today but something big is happening. It is chaos at my polling station, it's never been busy before, even Brexit turnout was low. Loads of young adults out too, I'm beginning to suspect Corbyn has cut through and the youth have seen...

Who are you voting for in the general election 2017?

Elections are a family occasion: after a brief overview of democracy the kids are treated to 1 hour rants of why Tories are b*stards. On a serious note, anyone who genuinely believes the rhetoric around terrorist sympathiser and all the other poison aimed at Corbyn needs to do two things: 1...

Type 2 Another Newly Diagnosed Confused

Given that HbA1C is no longer measured in % in UK I would question whether that 7.1% was a fasting test? If so, it would require 2 tests to confirm diagnosis and would indicate borderline diabetes. Do you know if it was a fasting test or a full HbA1C?

    Dissapointed

From my experience, it is much harder to reduce A1C if you are prediabetic. It will drop but the impact is less significant than reducing the A1C in T2. Personally, on a full on "normal" carb junk food diet that included all sorts of processed **** and then switching to no cheating full on...

    Blood Oxygen

I have been vaping for 2 yrs and 5 months since I quit smoking on NY day 2015. I was at zero nicotine by 9 months and now vape purely for flavour, to keep the sweet tooth and cravings under control. I vape what I cant eat and it works brilliantly. All my metabolic markers have improved...

What if blood sugar levels are a big lie?

You could argue the same about blood pressure. For decades, 140/90 was considered normal with the systolic number increasing with age (100 plus your age). All of these numbers are driven by an agenda and yes, it is without doubt influenced by pharma and money.

    Blood Oxygen

I always had great lung function too. I guess some of us were lucky enough to avoid the serious complications and find the common sense to quit before it killed us. Anyone with serious blood oxygen issues would be aware of it anyway without the need to check it due to the obvious symptoms that...

    Blood Oxygen

Yes, I have this one.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/GHB-Oximeter-Saturation-Monitor-Display/dp/B01MSZNHN4/ref=sr_1_3?s=drugstore&ie=UTF8&qid=1494174129&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=pulse+oximeter&psc=1 I am particularly impressed as I was a heavy smoker for 30 yrs and quit 2 years ago. I only ever...

    Blood Oxygen

95-100% is considered normal, below 90% is considered an issue. Higher the better is the target to aim for.

Time to confess..... but ending on a high!

it is when it starts eating your soft organs you have issues...... Utter nonsense, of course. Lean muscle mass only becomes an issue in the absence of body fat, that is when starvation kicks in.

    Blood Oxygen

Something that isn't often mentioned here so I thought I would mention and see if anyone else has any experiences. Entering my 5th month now of Low carb, at the outset I checked my blood oxygen levels and they were as they had been for the past 3 decades, at 95%. I noticed when I went into...

    Liver Function Test

My GP does a liver and kidney panel test annually in addition to the usual FBC and hba1c. It is not uncommon.
