Type 2 Statins - GP insisting Simvastatin 20mg

My GP asks me about statins. I refused. They raise blood sugar levels and can have massively negative side effects including severe muscle pain and memory loss. They seem to have minuscule benefits and massive drawbacks. See the film Statin Nation.

I have been a really bad girl

I am on no medication and have dropped my HbA1C from 99 to 41 after I stopped metformin. A low carb diet is very effective in lowering blood sugars. Get a glucose meter to check which foods spike your blood sugars and avoid them. Typically, this means cutting out breakfast cereals, bread...

does the fruit Juice not raise the blood sugar ?

Eating fruit raises blood glucose a lot. Drinking fruit juice is probably worse, because there is less fibre. A glass or orange juice has almost as much sugar as a glass of coca cola (5 to 8 teaspoons per cup).

    Metformin... again!

I had a HbA1C of 99 at diagnosis. Most recent test was 41 and this was after I shopped taking Metformin. I have managed to reduce my blood sugars purely by reducing the amount of carbohydrates I eat. That means cutting out breakfast cereals, bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. Also I stopped...

What are the side effects of metformin

Meformin caused me memory problems and pins and needles in my hands I stopped taking it as it only has minimal benefit for lowering blood glucose. A LCHF diet is much more effective. Since stopping metformin my HbA1C has dropped from 99 to 41. Metformin can result in increased risk of...

Newly diagnosed Type 2, HbA1c is 101, feeling really concerned.

When diagnosed my HbA1C was 99 and I had to wait 5 weeks to see a diabetes nurse. The best advice is to get a blood glucose meter and cut out high carb foods such as breakfast cereals, bread, potatoes, rice and pasta as well as fruit juice and fruit such as bananas and grapes. I was on...
