Self isolation for 12 weeks ?????

I'm 62, type 1 and have asthma. My GP. told me I am in the at risk catagory. The nature of my job means I cannot work from home. I work for a local authority and have been told if I self isolate I will only be entitled to SSP but if the Government come out and say that I MUST self isolate, then...

    Corona virus

I was not dismissing this out of hand, there is obviously a risk involved my point was, Do people think the media are making things worse by exploiting the issue ? As for the figure of 600,000 fatalities in this country alone that someone else mentioned, I do not believe that this will be the...

    Corona virus

Does anyone else think this whole thing has been blown up out of all sensibility by the nmdia. Look at it this way, we live in a population of about 67 million people in the U.K. About 370 people are known to have contracted this virus and six have died. That is so small a percentage it's almost...

    T1 and shift work.

I was a Police Officer and was type 1 for most of my 30 year service. I did not make any alterations to how I ate or had my insulin. I just carried on as normal and ate at the appropriate times depending on what shift I was working. The only factor I had to consider was not to have any insulin...

    Freestyle Libre sensor unavailable

Twelve seems excessive to me, I get 4 from my Dr's surgery and that lasts me 8 weeks. No wonder there's a shortage if people can order 12 at a time

    Freestyle Libre sensor unavailable

Seems a bit odd shall we say, that if on prescription the wait is 3 weeks, but if ordered direct it is 3 days. ! Money talks it seems.

    Freestyle Libre sensor unavailable

Well, I'm not sure what is going on. Yesterday, after being told on Monday that it would be at least 3 weeks before I received any new sensors, my pharmacist rang me to tell me that there were 3 ready for me to collect and that the remaining 4th one would be in next week ?

    Libre supply issues !

Went to my pharmacy this morning and was told there is at least a three week delay in orders due to the high levels of demand blamed on the NHS prescribing too many people ! I also rang around other pharmacies such as Tesco and Asda and was told the same thing. Back to fingerpricking next week...

Driving while feeling a hypo coming on

Its worth while remembering that if you have a hypo and have to stop, then move over into the passenger seat, remove the keys from the ignition and take your "treatment" This is so that if a Police Officer comes along and finds you, you cannot then be done for driving whilst unfit through drink...

    Libre (in)accuracy on HBA1C

That reading should have been 6.8 or 51 mmol/mol not as stated.

    Libre on the NHS

Sorry it took so long to reply. The main reason I was finally put on the NHS list was because of where I work, in a VERY secure children's home, where sharps and other medical items are strictly controlled and you cannot carry blood testing equipment on your person and have to leave the secure...

    Libre (in)accuracy on HBA1C

My last clinical HbA1c was 58, exactly the same as my Libre reading, strange how some people get wildly different results isn't it.

    Libre on the NHS

Saw my consultant on Friday and he agreed that I now met the criteria as set out on April 1st this year and has agreed to prescribe it for me. Long long battle finally won.

    Freestyle Libre

I must be one of the lucky people, I have never had a problem with Libre accuracy. I saw my G.P. two weeks ago who agreed that in her opinion, since the April 1st guidelines, I now meet the criteria for supply on the NHS but she also said that my consultant would have to approve it before she...
