    Triglyceride >565 mmol/L

And how did they respond to the statin? Remember you were diagnosed with an untreated serious disease, Type 1 diabetes, presumably you were in DKA. So that's different. But people with lipoprotein lipase deficiency are prone to Trigs of at least 12, and to pancreatitis if it's not brought down...

What happened to this guy who was 'cured' of type 1?

He probably still makes some insulin. I did a workout a few months after diagnosis, actually 2, and ended up in the hospital after a seizure from hypoglycemia. I actually had one, went to ED, ate, went home, and had another one. Sometimes I think the people who are honeymoon might benefit the...

    Triglyceride >565 mmol/L

You had better have made a huge mistake in your units of measurement here @ardneham. I trust you meant trigs were 565 mg/dl not mmol/L. Because if they were 565 mmol/L I don't think you'd be with us anymore lol. But a 565mg/dl,US units, (6.4mmol/l UK units) is high but not astronomically high. I...

This is a much watch for all of us and our families

The one that works best is the Suture Diet. That's where you sew the guy's mouth shut. Very consistent results.

    CGM

From what I've read on this forum the Dexcom is way better. I'm trying to get my insurance to cover it. The hypo alarm feature alone makes it better IMO.

Want to be taken off diabetes register.

Sure that way they can hike up your life insurance and health insurance and disability insurance rates. I'd try and get off it. " .. . the GP has agreed to discuss my case at the surgery meeting with the other GPs." Tell me you're kidding about that. Please. What "case"?

    Stressing over this- Any ideas?

Yeah they still do it. I think for the most part if the doctor treating you can't figure out if you're Type 1 or Type 2 pretty quick they should be fixing your refrigerator not you. Probably make more money at that too.

    Polymyositis

Statin not gonna raise CPK that much, rare to do it at all. Muscle pain not rare though. Goes away if you stop statin. Polymyositis pretty rare disease. Hope you get better! (I never do regular stress ECG, only stress echo or nuclear, false + is too common).

Benefits of type 1 (positive little story)

Cheech and Chong. Sister Mary Elephant's classroom, substitute teacher I think.

    Ramadan and diabetes

I was staying in a hotel in Al Ain, UAE for a week during Ramadan. I'll tell you what, when the sun went down they had a temporary dining restaurant outside the hotel Rotana there and that place filled up bigtime and they were eating and smoking with both hands! No boozy treats though. They had...

    Background retinopathy

I doubt if you have retinopathy from Type 2 diabetes after only a year.

Benefits of type 1 (positive little story)

First, I got up. Then I went downtown. To look for a job. Then I hung out in front of the drugstore. (whose classic comedy routine is that from? I'll show your age lol)

    Stressing over this- Any ideas?

Post in Type 2 Forum. Sounds like that's what they determined you have. No DKA no antibodies. There used to be a test for insulin levels called "C-peptide" but it's pretty old they may not do it nowdays.

“Bullied” to delete review of GP practice having given them a low rating.

It's weird I work at a VA. And the do pimp us to fill out surveys via Email (I never do). But I've not ever heard a patient comment that they got pimped to fill something out about their experience at the VA. I think the patients who get put in the hospital get called and the ED people get...

Switch Levemir from once to twice a day

I think Levemir is pretty much always a twice daily injection.

How quickly should my HBA1C go down?

    Hope it doesn't go up.

How quickly should my HBA1C go down?

It might not go down much if any because it wasn't high to start with. But yours looks like it did. You didn't mention if you had gestational diabetes in the 5 pregnancies or not. Remember you can send the same blood sample through the lab a second time and it could drop from 42 to maybe 38...

    Am I diabetic or prediabectic

Yeah once they stick you with "Type 2 Diabetes" they might as well tattoo it on your freaking forehead. Try getting life insurance with that one. I say a lot of "pre-diabetic" persons might spend a whopping $20 at Walmart for a meter and 50 strips and stay away from doctors unless you think...

Isn't LCHF the same as Atkins?

Atkins "diet" I remember from around 1984 when I got Type 1. I guess it's still around especially on diabetes forums especially. There's one in the US and they are all over it too they call it "ketogenic" and test their urine for ketones too. Not sure why I've never done that once. My gut...

Pre diabetes and dawn phenomenon + ketosis

The "Dawn Phenomenon" and the "Liver Dump" are as old as cassette tapes (I had a lot of those things). Pretty vague, pretty undefined, lotta ins lotta outs. I'd get off the idea in general.
