    Confused

Thanks. It's nice to see someone else in a similar situation. My BP is also fine (she says like a teenager so it's a shame the rest of me isn't like that lol) I did lose a bit more weight so my BMI was fine but it's wavering around normal/overweight. The doctor also told me there wasn't much...

    Confused

Hi all I've been here a while but haven't posted for a long time. I was diagnosed a year ago after a GTT came in at 12.5 (twice). This was a follow up after pregnancy and suggestion of annual GTT. Anyway, following that I discovered my cholesterol levels are shot to pieces, one high, one low...

    Newly Diagnosed - Metformin Question

Grazer - I have had the prescription since June and just got it a few weeks ago. I have been trying to diet but it's not an easy thing to do when you have no idea what works and what doesn't. I found when I was pregnant sometimes the usual things that are meant to be good weren't - porridge...

    Newly Diagnosed - Metformin Question

Our surgery don't do the diet thing either. Straight to metformin. And also, straight to a lot of metformin. I'm supposed to ramp it up so I'm taking 1000mg per dose twice a day. I'm going to stick with 500mg twice a day and see how that affects me. My HBA1C is 5.6 so good. It's my GTT...

    One week in

Hi Ian I think that you shouldn't really reflect on the past and what you could have done. You know what you're dealing with now so the aim is to remain positive and move forward. That said I've done the whole stupid cow thing as I had my warnings with gestational diabetes so should have taken...

    Metformin and alcohol

lol. it wasn't a cheap one. I'm wondering if I'm not agreeing with the metformin actually. I've been feeling quite sicky since starting it. I'm taking 2 x 500mg a day, so one in morning, one in evening. Not enjoying feeling nauseous most of the time.

    Metformin and alcohol

Thanks all. I know I'm not going to be able to indulge to the same extreme and certainly will be watching what it is I drink. The Rose gave me a massive headache - more like I would with a bottle or more previously. So, for me it's not going to be worth the headache to over indulge, but would...

    Metformin and alcohol

Hi all Just started taking Metformin and whilst reading the literature is says NOT to have alcohol??? My diabetes nurse never mentioned this and I'm guessing that it'll still be ok in moderation (which apparently is not half a bottle of rose wine as that made me feel horrid). Anyway...

    Testing

Hi all I've been here before but not too much. I've decided to start taking the metformin prescribed by the doctor. Main reason is they're not providing me with any way of monitoring so I haven't been. It's my post meal sugars that are a problem. Anyway, I'm thinking I ought to actually get...
