    I've just done something stupid.

There's no reason why you can't have a cooked breakfast sometimes :) Count the carbs and bolus if needed. The honeymoon period is hard because your own pancreas can still produce some of its own insulin, so that could be contributing.

It is possible to feel excessively thirsty during pregnancy. I remember standing by the sink drinking one glass of water after another and my BS was fine. How much water are you drinking in a day?

    Side effects!!!

@busydiabeticmum Is it possible you're going high and missing it eg if it's during the night? Could it be a mouth issue eg salivary glands, etc?

And yes, if you start to go low, of course you can have a snack. Eat what you need to get back in range.

Don't panic @Jc3131 What you need to do is keep testing regularly to make sure you don't go too low. Although it is ok to take a correction dose, I'd normally do that at 2 hours not so soon after eating. Test frequently and be ready to top up with carbs if needed.

    Insulin Abuse or Mis-use

@MarkUniqueUserName The thing that stands out to me there is that he's not testing his blood sugar. If he doesn't test his blood sugar, then that makes things harder. Yes, he might think he knows when he's high, but confirmation on a meter allows much better control. I'm not sure what you mean...

Any teachers out there had time off for IVF?

There's some information here @Little My http://m.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=5457 Google also provides lots of personal examples where people have an haven't taken time off. Personally, I'd limit time off in the early stages but consider a sick note in the latter stages.

    Insulin Abuse or Mis-use

@MarkUniqueUserName I agree with the post above. Although most people with Type 1 tend to keep carbs below 200g a day, many eat more carbs than that. Carbs aren't forbidden. The important thing is to control blood sugar. Carbs aren't forbidden - that bears repeating. Some people do abuse...

Hi : ) Sorry you're having problems. There have been some glitches in the app. If you're able to use your laptop for now then that would be best, but if you try again with the app over the weekend and it's still not working, can you let me know and I'll report it to the tech team for you. Best...

    Feeling very helpless

The DAFNE course will also give her a chance to meet other Type 1s. That might be good. It can be very lonely feeling alone with diabetes. Another thought - could a sibling or good friend carefully chat to her? Sometimes it takes someone of a similar age to say something that will be listened to.

    Fast meals

You've asked a lot of questions but never update us as to what happened eg your halogen oven questions (did you ever use it??), your question about trying to conceive (you never returned to that thread). Perhaps if you ever used any of the advice given, people would be less dismissive of your...

    Feeling very helpless

It must be so hard to watch. I'd be beside myself. I felt extremely angry when I was diagnosed. I hated people speaking to me about it as I felt they had no idea what it was like if they weren't Type 1 themselves. Could you try to reach some kind of compromise? There's no reason why she can't...

    Insulin pump help

My control is good,,yes :) The best thing is being able to,tailor the basal to,exactly what I need, and reduce/increase it simply. I found it strange wearing it for the first couple of days, but then I forget about it and didn't notice it. My basal rate was pretty much spot on to,start with so...

Would using a pump be safer for me?

I'd worry that wearing a pump would make someone more likely to start pressing buttons when they didn't mean to. Its certainly possible to dial a dose wrongly. I'm going to go the opposite way in my suggestion: would two injections a day be easier for you? So one in the morning, supervised if...
