Basal Needs may need massive increase

Hi All, I have had some issues with my blood levels over the last couple of weeks. I am one year diagnosed, really good control mostly from very low carb etc, but have added in some extra carbs since doing DAFNE about a month ago. Now, I have begun to see big increases of basal needed over...

Really High Cholosterol - 13 - Please Help

Hi All, Thank you for your replies and support, very much appreciated. So, on my appointment yesterday, the Doctor in question has prescribed me 10mg of rosuvastatin (Crestor) daily for 3 months to see how it will treat my high cholesterol (LDL, really is the only high part). He mentioned...

    Irish Diabetes Care

My Diabetes care has been pretty great since my diagnosis last year. I live in the west of Ireland so can't speak for those in Dublin etc. As for the Libre, you can buy over the counter/from Abbott, but it is only being prescribed to people under 18 years of age and dependent on circumstances...

    Type 1'stars R Us

Was going to go low last night, so had a thin slice of my mothers homemade brown bread, with a tiny bit of cheese on, something I haven't had really since November. Amazing. Will have another go this evening I think.

Really High Cholosterol - 13 - Please Help

Thanks all for the replies :) I'm not on Facebook (I deleted my account months ago now, too time consuming). So I can not see that group, but thank you for the link anyway. I don't like the idea of being just prescribed statins straight away as if it is continuing to come down, then surely...

Really High Cholosterol - 13 - Please Help

Hi All, Just an update on this. My last cholesterol check, which was a couple of weeks ago, came in at 8.5 as far as I remember. HDL and Trigs in range, just the LDL is way out of whack. Do we think this could still be pointing towards the Low Carb diet? I have an appointment at a bigger...

    Dexcom G6

I would like to use mine with xDrip as well, but even after setting the settings to where it should be at, it doesn't seem to pick it up at all. Anyone got any ideas on this? Somebody said I should Force Stop the Dexcom App in order for xDrip to pick it up, but, i'm a bit afraid of doing that.

Looking for low carb sauce/seasoning options

Hi All, I am looking at making my cauliflower rice and other vegetables a little more flavorsome as I am beginning to get a little bored with the options I have had. Also the likes of the slim noodles etc don't have much or a nice taste to them. Has anyone got any decent sauces that they use...

Mate go Keto and you'll never need to inject insulin.....

Seems strange. Gradually on Keto I have been lowering my insulin dosages as and when needed I could all change in the morning though, so to say it's cured for that person would be fairly strange. For example. December 2017 Basal 8am - 9Units Basal 8pm - 13Units May 2018 Basal 8am - 3Units...

    Supplements and Type 1

You've got the right attitude from the start which is good. For a start, I would just concentrate on getting the numbers somewhat stable with the normal routine that you have. From there you can start to add in things at a slow pace and find what works for you. That's what I did, I was...

    LCHF... safe for T1?

I eat very low carb/keto and have been doing so for about 5months now really. I have seen it be absolutely brilliant for my control of my Type 1 Diabetes. My last A1C was 5.9%. I was diagnosed last October after DKA which I thought was the flu at one point, and put on weight very quickly, going...

Cholesterol from hospital says 9.2 LDL 7 HDL 1.5 TRIGS - Not Sure Now seeing if my parents cholesterol is stable. So, it either dropped by 4 in 10 days, or something weird is going on here. Again, no idea

Really High Cholosterol - 13 - Please Help

Yep, 12-14 hours which will be no problem for me. The trigs on my test a couple of weeks ago were after fasting too, and were good from what I can see. No idea how the LDL score will come back though. It's great that they are taking a sensible approach. She said there is no doubt that statins...

Really High Cholosterol - 13 - Please Help

I had my first diabetic clinic yesterday. The specialist is very happy with me, my HBA1C is 5.9%, i'm a good weight, don't eat junk food and my diet is very clean. She looked at my cholesterol results and finds it baffling. On arrival into hospital and diagnosis in October last year, my...

Really High Cholosterol - 13 - Please Help

You guys are giving me so much to think about. I'm now wondering about the referral to the hospital with regards to FH. I guess it's no harm in going when I get an appointment, but like you said, cholesterol seems to go up and down. I seem to be controlling my diabetes very well in under 6...
