So upset with myself - HB1ac of 87

Hey Puffer, Just want to gently remind you that you didn't "get this way" overnight or in a couple of days of binge eating....it sounds like you know exactly how this current situation came about, what needs to be done to rectify it and are willing to put the work into it. Be kind to yourself...

Type 1, breast cancer and manic depression

Hi Karen, Prayers and blessings being sent your way.....truly a difficult situation to be in and then with all the Covid stuff going on, seems to make everything else even worse....I wasn't diabetic when I had my two mastectomies, but I certainly remember the fear, the anxiety, the questions...

    Keto and carb addiction

Hey @jpscloud, job well done! If you find you don't have lots of time to batch cook, when you do cook, like your chicken leg dinner, make enough for four servings, keep another meal out for the next day or two and freeze the other two. It's surprising how quickly you can have a lovely selection...

So I made a 5 minute Keto chocolate mousse..

I make an almond flour pie crust and it is lovely - you could put some of your pudding on it and have pie!! Throw a few raspberries on top, shave a bit of dark chocolate on top, maybe a little whipped cream....Oh my!! Look for a recipe on sites like diet doctor....Cheers/L

    Strawberry Jam

Hey @Listlad some good discussions going on here re: the sweeteners so I really don't have much more to add. I hope you find your "sweet spot" in all of this!! Have fun with your experimentations! Blessings/L

    600-800 calorie/cup foods?

Hey @cdpm, I would suggest that you cook food and then measure. For example you can find the amount of calories for 2 Tbs butter for example, and then put that in your cup measure. Then figure out how many calories in 3 oz of steak or other protein and add that to you cup. Keep going with what...

Pickle Juice. The new best thing.

Hey @Mr_Pot if you are having trouble with leg cramps, maybe you should consider getting some Magnesium oil. I did so after @Brunneria talked about it. Wonderful stuff - apply directly on the sore muscles - easier than sitting in an epsom bath salts tub full of water!! It was great advice and I...

    Strawberry Jam

Hey @Listlad, I think one thing that is a "negative" for many re: sweeteners is that it can continue to stimulate that "sweet tooth" that so many people struggle with.....the more sweetened things you consume, regardless of the sweetener, make you want to come back for more.....and some people...

    Another example of resistant starch????

Very well could be @Oldvatr! Have been reading more about resistant starch and it all sounds interesting enough that I have gotten some potato starch to experiment with. I like your test with stew a lot better than dissolving potato starch in water:) Hope you enjoyed it all!! Cheers/L

    Dehydrator has arrived

Hey @xfieldok are you going to be dehydrating meat into jerky? Or fruit? Just asking because isn't dried fruit high in concentrated sugars? I can't even get away with one dried apricot - which I love! Now if you are making jerky would love to know more about that and how it turned out....Cheers/L

    Didn't Recognize The Burnout....

Hi All, Happy New Year, a little late but that seems to be the story of me right now.....Didn't realize until a few days ago that I have been really burned out with the whole diabetes thing - going on my 18th year with it....Feels like it's go me by the throat at the moment....Anyway, wanted to...

How is this for a menu ? (1st attempt lol)

Hey @Patrick66 I gave you a winner with this meal compared to what you had been eating, this is great! Yes the mash could raise your levels, but a couple of tablespoons likely won't break the meter.....given you have enough protein and fat to go along with it. Given the limitations of your food...
