    Newish T2

I have to stay under 30g of carbs a day to keep ketosis going/control bgs, so I don't have to do a lot to get pushed out again. Usually I just have something that I can't have everyday but that doesn't push me up more than 2 mmol. Different veg, low-carb tortillas with my kebab, higher carb...

    Newish T2

I have PCOS too. My suggestions are take metformin (if you're not already and can tolerate it) my weight loss has only really happened with it as it's just too hard without better control of PCOS. Get a vitamin D test, lack of it is linked with insulin resistance and can make things even...

    How sad

Many of those southern european countries have very different work/life balances than the UK. I leave the house at 6 and don't get back 'til 8, which leaves me 0 time to cook. I'm lucky my partner needs less sleep and will cook late at night. Pretty much all the younger people I know have this...

The start of a new journey - just diagnosed Type 2

I take a lot of low carb meal bars with me. Most of my luggage is them! Not great as an everyday thing, but lots of places I go cookies, chocolate or big slabs of bread are the only foods available. Check if your company will let you have breakfast. Mine won't and won't let you pay for it...

How many obese people do NOT develop t2d?

You'd think medical profession would be better about correlation doesn't equal causation. For women 15-20% are estimated to have PCOS, of that 50-70%(!!!!) are estimated to have insulin resistance... its the leading comorbidity for T2D. My experience is that PCOS is very rarely tackled in a...

Are leg cramps a symptom of neuropathy?

Leg cramps were the main symptom of my herniated discs, so he may also want to talk to his physio/surgeon

    Feedback Requested! UofT Diabetes Project

I agree with LittleGreyCat. Also you may fall foul of your university's ethics committee if you submit your results and they found out you didn't talk to them before doing this! Why not have an informal chat with friends and family to find out views instead?

    Type 2 metformin weight loss

Loopy do you have PCOS? (Sorry if you're a chap) I do & met meant I had radical changes in weight and body size once I wasn't a walking pile of androgen. Eating even very normally meant I lost weight at first.

    Upset.

I was told by DN that regardless of bgs/no-meds you had to be on insulin and it had to start before you were pregnant... otherwise the baby would be fat (I'm sure there's a legit medical reason but .... pffft). Anyway, that put me off sharpish!

    Dealing with false hypos

Other day coming back from work I started feeling awful in a way I've never done before. Feel OKish by time I get home and test, but low and behold bgs was at 4.8 by then (when its normally 5-6 for me), which I'm guessing means it was closer to 4.0 when I felt pants. Obvs nowhere near a 'real'...

Wish peoples approach to infectous illnesses was more like the Japanese

Japanese people don't like to use tissues/blow noses in public so the masks are to disguise unchecked runny noses and constant snuffling!

    Patient access

Cor blimey I didn't even know this was a thing until I saw this thread! My surgery apparently do do this, but have hidden it on their webpage, so you can only get sign-up info by specifically googling surgery name + patient info. My place is really terrible and will not tell you results at all...

Slim noodles from Holland & barrat

Haven't tried the noodles of this brand, but had the rice version yesterday. Very good for making things like fried rice that would otherwise be off limits and less smelly after washing than other brands. Be careful how much you eat though! These are called 'broom for stomach' in Japanese...
