    Type 2, Gliclizide

I've had similar. Halving the morning dose worked for me - perhaps your GP might suggest dropping the morning dose altogether. Crashing with a low dose of gliclazide is a GOOD sign, remember

    Are you a diabete?

If an apathetic person is an apathete, why isn't a diabetic person a diabete?

    RIP Lidl High Protein Rolls

I blame Donald Trump (might not be true but it makes me feel better)

    Rude comments

Well, you could say that the real health crisis in this country is self-inflicted brain rot among non-diabetics brought on by thoughtless over- indulgence in the Daily Mail...

    Drinking and Diabetes

Diabetes control is the art of the possible. If you find a small glass of red wine is enjoyable and helps you abstain from other things then I would go for it -- it definitely works for me. I call it 'customized abstinence'.

Argh -- no quinoia - any ideas for alternative?

Agreed. But in the meantime how about --) ?

Argh -- no quinoia - any ideas for alternative?

Now that's a clever idea -- it's all about fooling the brain (and mine is easily fooled)

Argh -- no quinoia - any ideas for alternative?

The thread title was meant to be tongue-in-cheek....

Argh -- no quinoia - any ideas for alternative?

Thanks wiflib -- you are exactly right, and I am exactly weak. I promise I will have bone broth one day... (nice to have you back on the forum by the way)

Argh -- no quinoia - any ideas for alternative?

Many thanks for these links. Lots of companies cheat by combining quinoia with rice (the 'with' can mean up to 90%). I try to combine lower carb with very busy life and gentle forms of self-deception -- quinoia in small portions doesn't do too much damage to my bgs and helps me to avoid rice...

Argh -- no quinoia - any ideas for alternative?

Supermarkets in my area seem to have stopped stocking quinoia, which I found worked nicely as a rice-substitute in stir fries. Any ideas for a substitute?

More Support, less Advice for Newbies

It seems to me that shock and fear are exactly the appropriate response to a diagnosis of diabetes – the issue surely is to find the best way of directing that anxiety towards practical solutions. Diabetes clinics are stuffed full of people suffering the consequences of not taking the condition...

NHS advice on low carbohydrate diets

Anyone who says 130g of carbs is vital to maintain proper brain function is living proof that if anything it impairs proper brain function. Absolutely shocking that the NHS peddles this, and shameful that people have to be told to ignore what it says.

Please sign my petition - it could make your life easier!

I think that this is a wonderful idea -- but maybe doesn't go about it the best way. Avoid legal issues, but go for consumer pressure instead. Nutritional info does need to be available, and some chains make it very clear -- so why not get it printed on menus? Pressurise chains into making carb...

    Cannabis use and diabetes

I entirely understand the use of cannabis for pain relief. I entirely don't understand its use in any other context.

    Diane Abbott T2

Educated people -- indeed Oxbridge-educated people -- can say some very silly things where politics is concerned -- that is true of both Right and Left. I would unhesitatingly say that both Theresa May and Diane Abbott have said stupid things on political matters. But as far as diabetes is...

Who are you voting for in the general election 2017?

Well I cast my vote but I have never known an election where every possible outcome would be equally disastrous.

Who are you voting for in the general election 2017?

Until the Brexit deal and economic impact is clear, all of the parties' election promises are utterly meaningless and the so-called costings are an exercise in fantasy. Neither Tories nor Labour have a sensible thing to say about Brexit so I wouldn't dream of voting for either of them.
