    Nutrition and exercise

I did it in Edinburgh a few years ago. You will get some sort of pasta before you kick off ( not good for low carb diet but you'll walk it off) . I also took a couple of bottles of water , a couple of bananas and I think some dark chocolate. Enjoy it the atmosphere is amazing

8/16 fast and blood sugar rises

Now it makes sense . So my BS was / is raised as my liver is releasing glycogen and when it is deleted then my body gets energy from elsewhere ... It was driving me mad not understanding it.

8/16 fast and blood sugar rises

A bit thanks. I think I need to map it out on a bit of paper to get it into my head . Am I right in thinking that once the liver has used it's stored glucose the body then turns to muscledc etc for sources of glucose. I think I need to get my old anatomy books out of the loft lol

8/16 fast and blood sugar rises

Please explain to me the glycogen clearing out of the liver . Is that why I'm having higher BS levels when I fast . I find the 8.30pm - 12.30 lunchtime is pretty easy if I have a coffee about 10am. Ty

8/16 fast and blood sugar rises

The problem is if I fast 16/8 the BS is staying raised for longer . I like that I'm loosing a bit of weight but not at the expense of prolonged raised blood sugars.

8/16 fast and blood sugar rises

They aren't terrible 7s 8s while fasting but it's higher than I want and drop back to 5s 6s usually when I eat . I read somewhere that it's my liver ridding itself of glucose and it will settle down but that doesn't make sense to me . Think I need to do more reading .

8/16 fast and blood sugar rises

Hi my BS level seemed to be getting back in control until I've done the 8/16 fasting routine for a few days. I've still lower carb ( around 70gm day) but my BS seems to be higher again. What am I doing wrong ? Is this a normal thing that happens in the first few days ?

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.4 I'm usually which is better than it has been recently . Being back on low carb is working. Don't let anyone tell you it doesn't work.

Back to basics to get back on track.

Wow thanks for the inspirational badges , didn't expect to get them. When I came back to the forum it was for purely selfish reasons , I didn't think anyone would be interested in my mistakes this year . That said if anyone gets inspiration from the support I have had from everyone on here then...

Back to basics to get back on track.

Yep still at it , mainly walking now , try to do 10,000 steps a day . Had tennis elbow twice and a cataract operation so that and the weather kind of reduced it . Then I felt sorry for myself which led to eating rubbish etc etc .... It was so easy to kid myself that I was getting away with it...

Back to basics to get back on track.

Hi everyone , I'm 3 weeks into the low carb programme ,lost 3 5lb and BS improving . I'm also doing the 16/8 fast thing and finding that I'm quite emotional . Luckily I work from home so nobody is seeing me lol. I would like to loose another 10lb but as long as my BS stays relatively ok then...

Back to basics to get back on track.

Hi I'm ashamed to say that it isn't hard , I have just been really stupid . I've had a bad year , tennis elbow twice and a cataract operation , along with bad weather followed by it being too hot to be active led to inactivity and boredom. I started to eat a lot of Tesco Genoa cake too ... I got...
