    Zizzi's removing carb information!!

Tell Zizzi that if McDonalds can break down a hamburger into total carb as well as sugar, and total fat as well as saturates (http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/ukhome/product_nutrition.beef.32.hamburger.html) along with Fibre, Protein etc, there's no regulation stopping them from doing it either.

    Boots diabetic food range.

The bars of chocolate aren't that bad - they use lactitol etc as the sweetener so it's not really a digestible sugar (in my experience). The problem comes along when you try to eat any of their biscuits, individual chocolates, or other treats - they're loaded with that lovely trickster maltitiol...

    Something a little light hearted...

I was perusing Reddit's /r/diabetes earlier when i saw someone making the point that BG results are just data points, not a "score" for how well you're doing. My immediate thought was "can't it be both?". So being an avid PC gamer I immediately thought of Steam's in-game achievements. Here's...

What has been your highest reading?

    Hi. That was it.

    Discharged from clinic:(

I think I too would fight tooth and nail to remain at a clinic - I'd rather my results be looked over by a specialist than a DSN.

Being told you cant Inject at work!!

This is discrimination at it's most obvious and easily challenged. Is your husband part of a trade union or does he have a family lawyer he can call on?

Parasitic worms for Type 1 therapy.

Hmm, I wonder how Sanofi plans to make money out of Pancreate. Supply the immune suppressants perhaps? Or will this be a "every x months" it needs topped up? Curious.

    AFTER 2YEARS STILL THINKING,,,,,,,,,WHY

Diabetes, really, isn't all that different from any other thing in life that we wish was different. Your lover leaves, your ambitions are thwarted in work, you fail exams, you miss uni places, your favourite shirt tears, the weather sucks on your holiday, your car slides and crashes on a road...

Don't believe all the doctors say...

When men of science start using God as the foundation of an argument, I get scared.

The latest pearl of wisdom from my GP

You should fight the point next time, otherwise you'll simply embolden said GP.

What blood glucose monitor do you use?

Word. 8) It irritated people's skin and needed constant calibrating if I recall correctly. Thus it failed miserably as a product. :(

    £12 for a Dr's letter to join a gym!!!!

Well this is odd. I'm type 1 and joined a gym years ago, and no one batted an eye-lid. Not even an objection to me using the sauna/steam-room. Wish I hadn't cancelled it now, lol.

    Injecting in SCHOOL!

At best you can have her fired. At worst you can have her disciplined. At most gratifying, you could have her apologise to you in front of the rest of the class. At which point you can go "How's that for drama, *****?". ;)

    Heat-stable Insulin

Also, remember to factor in the fact that your own reaction to properly stored insulin will change in hot weather. I know mine does when I'm abroad.

So a type 1 diabetic walks into...

A homoeopathic practitioners office. Upon being offered numerous herbal solutions for their poor control the diabetic pulls out what looks like a glucose monitor and says to the practitioner, "I think we need to check your B.S levels". The practitioner replies, slightly bemused "Why would I have...

Do your warning signs change when sitting/lying down?

Totally. If I'm sitting working at the PC for hours, I'll often not notice I'm hypo as soon as I otherwise wood - quite often it's when I stand up and go "oh wait, that's not right...". Strangely when I'm sitting driving or lying in bed, the reverse is true - I notice hypos almost immediately.

I need to get some control

Next time you're hungry in that situation, nibble some cheese or some cooked meat and wait for things to level out.

    Lantus

Well done, a responsibly solved problem. :) Although I still think we need a feature on the forum that pops up a message saying "use Levemir" any time someone posts a topic about Lantus. ;)

    Diabetes does kill

My apologies for posting in this topic so late in the day, but I've not been on here as much as I used to be. My condolences to you, and to your children. I took the liberty of going through your previous posts about this matter, and I have to say you appear to have done everything you could -...
