    How are everyone's pregnancies going?

Thanks for the supportive words ladies. It is good to have people that understand how I feel. In a much better frame of mind now. I spoke recently to my usual consultant, who wasn't at all concerned about my bloods, and told me hypos were entirely normal and that I was doing a good job...

    Angry! Angry! Angry!

Oh dear - no wonder you're hacked off. As you say, the others that know no better will think they've been given wonderful advice, and will scratch their heads when their numbers aren't going in the right direction. Not going back for part 2 then??!

    How are everyone's pregnancies going?

Hi all, will be 14 weeks on Friday. All going great with pegnancy - been lucky with sickness etc - but the lows have been causing me issues. Or, more specifically, the hospital team's reaction to them. Yes, I had a lot, but worked on basal to reduce as many as I could. Hypos sure aren't nice...

High blood glucose, good hba1c and average size baby

Hi, for some higher-GI meals, I've found it helpful to give more than I need for the carbs pre-meal, then reduce basal for a period of time afterwards to stop the hypo. I read somewhere that it's called a super-bolus or something?? It is trial & error, though. I can happily report that this...

    Struggling with lows

You have my sympathy - never had so many hypos. Funny how a pancreas can be redundant for 32 years, then decide to start producing a bit of insulin..........!! No helpful advice, I'm afraid, other than drop the basal. I'm 9 + 3, and still doing battle with the lows. Hope the nausea eases soon xx

    Positive pregnancy test...help!

Hi natw, just found out today that I'm pregnant. Been type 1 for 31 years. Like you say, now it's real it's a bit daunting but exciting. Have had to double my basal rate since just after my embryo transfer 2 weeks ago (conceived via IVF) and will need to increase again today to beat the evening...

    Positive Result

Found out today that our second cycle of IVF has resulted in a positive result :doctor: It is really early days still (4 weeks) but we're delighted. Have longed for a baby for years, so now seems almost surreal to have been told we're positive. Have had a raging cold all week, so BG tough to...

    Husband's 'Support'..............

Hi All apologies in advance, I'm not after specific advice ref diabetes and pregnancy, more to have a rant. In fact, I'm not even at the end of the 2 week wait yet - that is Friday. We've undergone 2 rounds of IVF, and had an embryo transfer last Monday. So have worked long and hard at...

    Scared I'm going blind

Hi Nicola, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through it at the minute. It is one of the most scary things to experience - I know. I've had retinopathy since 2008, had vitrectomy in Jan 2013 in left eye. Unfortunately, vision didn't improve. But I still have some, which is far better than the...

    Always depressed... Suicide awaits

Fantastic that you have an appointment with your GP. Never, ever feel that you are wasting their time. Be totally honest, they want to help. I suffered severe depression 6 years ago, the GP urged me never to wait to see them again. Had suicidal thoughts and wasn't functioning at all. Have since...

    What can I expect?!

As Azure said, the hormones can mess up your sugar levels - whilst on progesterone, I needed a lot more insulin. But I did check this out with my DSN before adjusting things, just to check this was normal. Also, don't underestimate that it can be emotionally stressful, which may also affect...

Hba1c gone up doing ivf fet

Hi Claire, I had an FET on Sunday, and my levels in the morning have been so hard to control since starting progesterone supplements. I honestly felt like I was reading someone else's results yesterday and today :-( Am on a pump, so doing loads of testing and gradual adjusting to basal and...

    Groaning inwardly (minor rant)

Oh dear, I feel your pain. Pre-IVF appointment in December was with one of the consultant's team, who had a med student with her. She was lovely but, like you, I had to go through the whole rigmarole. She even got me to read out each of my hourly basal rates............. She quizzed me on how I...
