I left a script for Boots pharmacy in Horsham for Fiasp Insulin on 6 July. On the 12th I went in and there was no Fiasp and the pharmacy said they were having supply issues. I basically used up all of my Fiasp and then went in today 24th July. Again no insulin. As my situation was urgent they...

I'm a diabetic with neuropathy. Will the NHS help around the house? A blue disability badge?

You should be able to apply for PIP if you have neuropathy and if you are on medication for this. Neuropathy is strange because somedays are worse than others all depending on blood glucose levels and we all know how hard it can be to control as its not just carbohydrates that affect our blood...

    1st seizure

@Stu9876 Speak to your consultant and ask to change from Lantus to Tressiba. Tressiba is peak less, absorbed much slower and you only take it once a day - usually in the morning. Reduce your needle size to 4mm so you never hit a capillary as these are generally 3-5mm below the skin where there...

    1st seizure

What size needles do you use to hit a capillary? Insulin only needs to be injected under the skin. I use the shortest needle. 4mm

    1st seizure

Why can you not drive? As far as the DVLA are concerned, a night time hypo should not be counted AND you would have to have 2 x hypos requiring assistance in a 12 month period. I been type 1 for 22 years. Only ever had 1 hypo which required assistance. My drivers licence needed renewal about two...

    DVLA Update

I had my renewal letter. I decided to renew online. I declared that I had 1 x hypo where I required assistance. To my surprise my new licence arrived today. 1 week. I am so happy and surprised.

Starting Metformin - need tips and encouragement

Make sure you keep an eye on your insulin intake as you may need to start reducing your insulin. Metformin is generally given when your body starts becoming resistant to insulin. I had a very bad hypo requiring assistance because I was taking Metformin and was never advised that I may need to...

    DVLA - Licence renewal

That is crazy and to be honest not really acceptable. Almost 11 months to get a renewal licence. I did renew mine yesterday even though my licence has to renew by May. I guess yours took longer because of lockdown and staff working from home. Hopefully it will be faster now that people are back...

DVLA & Only needing help in a hypo ONCE

Has anyone renewed their drivers licence and confirmed that they only had 1 hypo where they were assisted by another person? I have just sent my renewal off online and am stressing so much about this. I worry that somebody at the DVLA will just revoke the licence. I sadly have lost all faith...

    DVLA - Licence renewal

I answered yes to the question: When having the episode of low blood sugar, did you need help from another person? I clicked the box YES, bit I only needed help once. According to Diabetes UK its only if I ticked the box needed help two times or more that they revoke the license. BUT I worry as...

    Metformin for type 1

I too was put on Metformin but ended up having a hypo where |I needed assistance from others so be careful with the dose. My consultant just prescribed me 500mg. I feel they should have started me on a much lower dose. As a result, this hypo could have a rippled effect as I have just had to...
