Hi welcome to the forum. Your no longer seeing 20s so you have made huge progress. Please give it more time and I am sure you will reach your goals. I understand you on working from home temptations and I suspect I have had covid as my partner took part in research and he tested positive for...

Newly diagnosed, not new to the forum

Yes, full dose of metformin and I am staying in just in single figures for last two weeks. I remember you and your amazing commitment and success. Also your screen name reminds me growing up in Islington and Hackney with 3 football obsessed older brothers.

Newly diagnosed, not new to the forum

After a decade of bumbling along with lowish carbs and normal/prediabetes results, I got a skin infection that needed antibiotics in December 2020. Casually mentioned to the doctor perhaps I should have a HBA1C as it had been 18 months. This was arranged in January and the result was 108...

Newly Diagnosed - Do I need to know what type I am?

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-glucose/dawn-phenomenon.html It's quite normal to get your highest reading first thing and for that reading to be the last to get in line following diet changes.

    Prediabetes Illness as prediabetic

Having a bad cold or chest infection is the only time I get symptoms of diabetes.

    Insulin resistance

I think it's another option for those not able or willing to make lifestyle changes that can keep their levels safe. Metformin has only been licensed for prediabetes in the UK a short while and is mainly prescribed to those on the borderline to type 2 who are starting to develop complications...

    Prediabetes

Hi welcome to the forum I'm tagging @daisy1 for a new member post for you. Please don't worry as 5.8/106 fasting level is just a bit outside normal in the US, I'm sure you can turn this around with small lifestyle changes. I'm based in the UK and we no longer use fasting levels for diagnosis...

A few asking for low carb food lists....

This would make an excellent thread on it's own. The receipes are out there, just put keto or low carb in front of anything you want to search for on the internet. Meat, fish and chicken with the flavours and spices (minus sweeter sauces/rubs ) do not change. I just use lower carb vegetables...

    Feedback from today

Do what is right for you. Take it steady and remember you are looking for a sustainable way of eating not a crash diet that will leave you feeling deprived.

    Saving strips

Yes, I do this too, thought I was the only one. I started guessing before in the early days when I was testing a lot over the first 18 months. I have been using a meter for 8 years and don't take any medications which I think helps. I know what to eat and what a variety of foods do to my...

    Newly Diagnosed type 3c

Welcome to the forum, it sounds like you need a copy of all the tests carried in hospital. The results should have been sent to your GP. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/c-peptide-test.html
