- At the moment... artex ceilings. Also the concrete patio.
On Friday afternoon we welcomed to the world our beautiful baby boy!
Born by emergency cesarean at 38weeks exactly. 8lbs, 1 oz.
My induction was scheduled for Friday but was brought forward to Wednesday due to reduced fetal movement and erratic BMs. My insulin needs had reduced to almost pre pregnancy levels so I texted my midwife for advice. The specialist team recommended I be induced sooner than I had expected! A bit of a shock and I was worried that baby (and me!!!) wasn't ready. The induction process was long and tedious. Three pessaries later my waters were broken on Friday morning and contractions started. I had an epidural almost straight away. 5 hours later I was ready to push! Being a larger lady I never thought my pelvis and birth canal would be too narrow for a baby but... after an hour of pushing baby was showing signs of distress and was very firmly stuck!!!
EMCS was agreed and off I went to theatre. My husband was very brave but I found myself reassuring him, rather than the other way around! The section went well. About 20 minutes and he was out! There was quite a bit of tugging; the surgeon said that he was very very firmly wedged! Then I was sewn up and have spent the weekend recovering.
Unfortunately, my son had low sugar and has been having trouble bringing them up. He's been on a drip in NICU since the early hours on Saturday. I have been breastfeeding and topping up with formula. He is doing better and I hope so much that the tree of us can go home tomorrow!!
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to write on this thread or message me. Happy to provide more details! It is so important (and extra important for diabetic ladies, am T1 by the way) that we all go in as prepared as we can. One of the reasons I think I coped so well mentally with the induction and then EMCS was because of information that came from ladies who'd been there first!
