Eeeek just got appt for first full bloods since diagnosis.

I'm in preconception clinic and waiting for the go ahead to ttc so there's a lot depending on latest hba1c.

On diagnosis it was 12% and consultant says 7 or less to be safe for pregnancy.

After 8 weeks on novomix I switched just after Christmas to novorapid and levemir which suits me better.

I wondered what other people's first post diagnosis results were.

It's stressing me out a bit which is stupid isn't it as stress raises bg!

Before saying anything else, I think that the first post-diagnosis HbA1c is perhaps not a good thing to look at - it will be much better for those (un-?)lucky enough to have a significant honeymoon period; so a good 1st HbA1c may tell you more about a person's luck than anything else.

Having said that, my 1st HbA1c post diagnosis was 38 (5.6%) - quite a shock to hear double figures btw. I don't know HbA1c at diagnosis since I had the classical DKA symptoms and a blood sugar of 25 mmol/l.
