Diagnosed in Jan 2016 steroid induced diabetis. Prescribed metaphormin and clixoside I think that's how it's spelled.
Six month test results nurse specialist said my results were exelent .
Another six month test again exelent.
I have been saying for ages I didn't think I was diabetic as I didn't change my diet I don't drink or use sugar yet I'm getting great results. I made a decision to stop all my medication both diabetic and pain relief. No withdrawal from steroids opiate pain killers, diazepam ,muscle relaxants , and some of which I didn't even know what they were for it's been so long.
Since stopping the tablets it's been just over a week ten days tomorrow. No high blood levels the highest being ten only once and that was two hours after eating.mainly the readings are always between 5/6/7 . My doctors phone consultation was very stressed basically he disputed everything I had said.
I know that it sounds rather a bold step but it is what it is I feel better in myself no more low sugar shakes and tremors ,I even tried to push the readings up by having some bread with soup and putting sugar in my coffee. I can't explain it but my daughter is a nurse and she has been checking my monitor as she said if I had a diabetic patient with those results I wouldn't worry. So cured or cock up ?....

I think that if your diabetes was steroid induced, then stopping the steroids might have reversed the diabetes. Your normal blood glucose levels seem to indicate that's the case. Congratulations!

@Scoop2432, I think it's probably best that you have a lengthy sit down with your doctor and talk through your medication and ailments.

Not only have you stopped taking prescribed medication, but pretty hard core medication at that... There's usually a justified reason for the medication to have been prescribed in the first place, and because of that, it's definitely wise to discuss coming off them with your Doctor, before you do.

Congratulations on your improved BG readings, but I think we both know there are further things to be understood and addressed.
